Watching this game now. Coach K vs Pitino.
Pretty good game so far. I am paying a lot of attention on Okafor. This is the 1st time I am actually seeing him play live. He is pretty good but I don't see why he is considered a sure fire #1 pick. Maybe he is just having a hohum game but he doesn't really strike me as a game changer. He does get doubled a lot and he makes the right reads and passes out but his defense and rebounding is nothing special. Typing this and Louisville just scored in the paint in front of Okafor.
Any experts here on Okafor? Is he just having a hohum game so far?
He looks like he is just letting the game come to him. I would like to see more defensive and rebounding intensity. The team he goes to will have to work on that with him and instill in him the values of hedging hard on screens, getting in position to protect the rim, and attacking the ball in the air when rebounding after blocking out.

OK4 is letting game come to him. Louisville is doubling so Duke has been taking advantage of the attention paid to OK4 and that has opened up the floor for them to get great shots. In the last couple of losses Duke kept trying to force it to OK4 and this time they've been smart.
Not to mention Duke leads by 20 pts. They don't need OK4 to be Superman right now.
He is good. Has plenty of room to get better. He is simply a freshman

I thought it was just me....i said the same thing during their last game. He looks like Zach Randolph to me.....who is not a number 1 pick...i hope we get #2 or #3 pick so we dont have to worry about it. I want more defensive players at the critical positions C and PG.
I rather have towns or tyson2 whos the other center. Now if we draft OK4....then we need 3 solid defenders around him and melo.
Wow, that was an explosive dunk. I don't get people who say he lacks explosion. He needs to get comfortable with his body though and show his agility and explosiveness defensively more going forward. This zone is not helping him show that though. The nba is a heavy PnR league and in this game you can't really see how he handles the high PnR. If he is coached right I think he will be a defensive player similar to the Gasol bros or Robin lopez. He want get the blk numbers near a Anthony Davis but he will change a teams defensive efficiency by always being in good help position and playing good post D.
Okafor is really good no question. As much as I want him and would take him #1, I still really think Towns is a great fit for us. We need to get a top 2 pick, but I won't be mad if we don't land okafor.

Honestly, I think we draft at the 2 or 3 spot, so I think the decision will be taken out of our hands.
OK4 doesn't really have a motor..Like to see his defense and rebounding improve ..If we do get this guy, bring back Amare to mentor him in low post moves and NBA fitness..

no, unless you mean as a coaching ast.
The guys a Shaq from the 4position with incredible touch. He will need to continue to learn how to pursue rebounds but that's just nit picking

I'd actually try to bring in OK4 senior too to mentor him

Think the talk is Phil won't trade Amare because he wants him back next year..

Well Phil needs a new hobby or he gets him back at under $3m partially guaranteed. He is not dependable though at any price. Even Lou Brown knew Jake Taylor knees were no longer good enough but he would make a good ast.(Major League II)

OK..I'll bite...How or what makes Amare selfish?
ok4 is not that explosive and he's weak against the pick and roll, pretty flat footed... i don't think he has the literal quickness to defend the pick and roll well... towns is fairly quick laterally which is why i think he's better for today's nba...
his numbers look different against other true centers although he did pretty well today... louisville's big men and overall defense is of course better than some of the teams that duke has faced...
Towns or Stein; which is the better player?
