No the Knicks were allowed to protect three players that they had in training camp from the d league draft. They were still free agents in regards to nba teams.

yeah ... I watched the knicks play Reno the other day. Reno blew me away with their style and efficiency.
I wish I had more time to watch more d-league. I would also love to see what morey has his d team doing. He does some crazy proof of concept testing there.

I read about the d league more than I watch it but Morey and the Rockets are one of the teams that has used the d league really successfully. I also liked what the Cavs were doing last year.
If they are really hung up over 800k being guaranteed for next year then that is silly. Yes it would be nice if he would have excepted the exact contract Millsap accepted but Millsap didn't start any games. This is like locking up a 2nd rd pick. Get it done and move on.
The Knicks should lock Galloway up, say 6m 4yrs. Low risk high reward.

The dip really matters little imo when a team has to fill almost the entire roster. A dangerous precedent may be set if Phil cant get this resolved. He's gonna need cheap marginal talent to fill out the roster, guys who mnight be able to bloom above their pay. all of the better teams have these types of players.
