Deal should get done.... Langston is playing hardball like he should since he has leverage and not asking for much... Phil's balking because most hes trying to do what most smart GMs do... Get a team option for the 2nd year...
He will relent in the end... They have more to lose...
VCoug wrote:Here's the article if anyone wants to read it. This is bizarre. What does Phil Jackson think he's going to get with an extra $300K next Summer (we'd have a $500K cap hold because of the open roster spot). And, according to him, we're not looking to rebuild the team in one Summer anyway
so what's the big deal?
Hopefully it is standard negotiations. Berman doesn't usually break stories. The Knicks need Galloway. He is the poster child for why you scout the Portsmouth Tournament, and develop guys in the d league. I don't think Phil messes this up.
Langston Galloway and the New York Knicks are in talks on a deal, league sources tell RealGM.Galloway is on his second 10-day contract with the Knicks.
Multiple NBA teams are prepared to engage with Galloway should he become a free agent.

Will the real Gallo please stand up.

Well all I can say let this be another example
Of what Phil can expect this summer with other free agents
One of the things I don't like about the Amundson and Lance situation
If they remain for the rest of season they will come with a cap hit
If we renounce them at season's end like Galloway anyone can sign them once free
They simply seem like a no high reward options here
Galloway needs to be locked up and we need to call up Thanasis and sign him
But Phil is sweating bullets over $800k guaranteed for this kid?
Are you really that ignorant about Thanasis??? There is NO reason to bring him up at this point and start his clock earlier than necessary. C'mon man wake up!
There is no ignorance for a kid who took a financial sacrifice
To play down in the DL, he could very well get caught up in a numbers game
As we fill out the team, I want him developing and raising his value
On an NBA level because as Joe Alexander of the Bucks said
There is no comparison to D-League and NBA play
There's no major risk in signing him now vs the offseason
Especially if we were to give him a guaranteed deal
I get it, fill out the roster go to the cap and then sign him to a deal once
We're loaded up I doubt his $750-1mil hit proves to be any difference as to
Who we're going to sign this summer anyway, I would prefer 40gms of NBA development now
On a prorated NBA 2nd round pick deal for this yr then
Regular numbers next yr and if he's not that good he can still go down to the D-League to play

Losing him, or any young player, to another team because of something like this and seeing him develop into a decent player would be terrible.
Why bring a kid to SL, training camp, put him on your DL team, bring him up, watch him work well in the system you want to establish, contribute to some victories, and then let him go to another team because of $800Gs at a time, I think, when the cap will be increasing?
Makes no sense at all, and if he is scooped up by another team we will look like a D League feeder team for the rest of the NBA.

I agree. Hopefully this gets done soon.
Langsanity!!!
Good job Phil..get that team option for the second year. 20 days and 8 game is to small of a sample size...Make that young man earn his guarantee money!
L.Galloway didnt just do 4 years in College, go undrafted, get waived and play in the D league for nothing...

The flight to from New York to L.A. to give
Carmelo 5yrs $125mil jet fuel included cost more
Than Galloway's deal but hey gotta stick it to
The role player make sure they know where their place is on this team
As you said, Phil hold his feet to the fire until he says uncle
A guy on twitter said the Pistons are closely watching what happens with Galloway. Galloway has options.

I'm on Twitter too, that's where news will break soon enough

agreed 100%.. ive loved what ive seen from galloway, but you hit it spot on. he's trying to cash in and theres no reason to overpay for someone who is at best a rotation player on a playoff team. phil will get him at his price.

Does the deal need to be done by midnight?
Long story short, Galloway DOES NOT HAVE TO SIGN a 10 day deal and surely NOT with The Knick's
However, The Knick's took the "conservative" approach as some would call it, to fully analyze the talents, 10 days at a time
We also do not have the ability to offer him more than the vet min, while teams with exemptions, including injury exemptions, and cap space can offer him much more money in terms of money and years

He's a free agent tomorrow, they have to sign him to something.

Yeah something has to happen soon with Galloway//// Elliot Williams of the Utah Jazz
His contract expires tonight and they aren't going to resign him
what a stupid decision, an incredibly stupid one.
and the clock strikes midnight

Phil was an employee of the knicks first before anyone else.

Man do you understand english??? If the Knicks brought up Thanasis this year his contactual calendar starts a yr earlier. Meaning his minimum salary would increase a yr earlier. There is NO way ANY GM is going to start a players calendar earlier than they have to. Are you that thick? Stop suggesting that .He is Not coming up this yr. He's different than Galloway since Thanasis is a 2nd rnd pick.
