"Shocking"...........
Now go back and look at the freak out hate that we all so love to spew when things we don't have details on are presented.
Like Nalod said, this kid is starting. Is Detroit offereing that? I doubt that.
His agent was smart to try to get some guaranteed money and maybe some "assurances"
It seems like it is only a two year deal which could lead to problems. If he breaks out a team can offer him a poison pill type deal like Lin.
I guess you cross that bridge when you get there and maybe his agent wouldn't let Galloway settle for a two year deal. Either way it is good to see it get done.
I'm glad the Knicks signed him...for a second there I thought we were going to lose Franco12 and Waltlongmire
We need a Knick-Name for him:
1. LG
2. Gallo2.....G2
3. L-way
4. G-way

Well all I can say let this be another example
Of what Phil can expect this summer with other free agents
One of the things I don't like about the Amundson and Lance situation
If they remain for the rest of season they will come with a cap hit
If we renounce them at season's end like Galloway anyone can sign them once free
They simply seem like a no high reward options here
Galloway needs to be locked up and we need to call up Thanasis and sign him
But Phil is sweating bullets over $800k guaranteed for this kid?
Are you really that ignorant about Thanasis??? There is NO reason to bring him up at this point and start his clock earlier than necessary. C'mon man wake up!
There is no ignorance for a kid who took a financial sacrifice
To play down in the DL, he could very well get caught up in a numbers game
As we fill out the team, I want him developing and raising his value
On an NBA level because as Joe Alexander of the Bucks said
There is no comparison to D-League and NBA play
There's no major risk in signing him now vs the offseason
Especially if we were to give him a guaranteed deal
I get it, fill out the roster go to the cap and then sign him to a deal once
We're loaded up I doubt his $750-1mil hit proves to be any difference as to
Who we're going to sign this summer anyway, I would prefer 40gms of NBA development now
On a prorated NBA 2nd round pick deal for this yr then
Regular numbers next yr and if he's not that good he can still go down to the D-League to play
Thanasis doesn't even look like a NBA player in the D-League going against D-League talent so why would we bring him up if he isn't ready? I'm not sure if he'll ever be ready for the NBA. He's got no offense and he's so out of control that i just don't see it. I'm rooting for the kid to make it because i love his energy and how he loves to play defense but he's got a lot of work to do to make it in the NBA.

There are pros and cons looking at things from different angles
You bring up one here whereas the other brought with Thanasis is having him
Get to his Bird's Right quicker or him receiving a richer offer overseas and he bolts
No longer in our farm system
I guess you could say had Galloway received a 3yr deal including this yr
And he plays well his whole time here then you have to pay him up to 25% Max
Come the summer of 2017 as he would have obtained full Bird's Rights
I really don't see the big deal squabbling over $500-1.5mil at best committed to young talent now
Because the NBA experience is much more valuable at this point for our team
I could care less about Gallo's potential poison pill situation down the road
If he's good and we do our job he'll be a Knick for a long time period

You may be right but I've read NBDL reports on him
That says he's an NBA ready lockdown defender now
With that being said it's pretty pathetic Early and Than
2 pieces from the Dallas trade have pretty much gone ghost on an 8-37 team
To the degree we're finding other talent moving ahead of them[Galloway]
Losing a little footing of late on the draft as we currently sit 3rd
Is our youth going to play a major role in helping change the culture or not?

I'll be using that along with
Gangston, The Gall, The Goods, or plain ole G

I'm actually touched by your concern. Unfortunately there is no crying emoticon to use. Have to say, though, that I've probably been a fan of the Knicks longer than most people on UK (parts of 6 decades). Would not walk away, but might not be a happy fan.
I expect that both of us were just venting our frustration.
I always look for consistency and a lack of hypocrisy in a decision maker (and people in general). Jackson took on the Calderon contract, which some have criticized him for, and although he talked tough during the Anthony negotiations, he ended up caving, whether or not Dolan had the final say in what went down. The Anthony contract does more damage to our cap and what we can do next year than the $800Gs Galloway might make next year.
I'll also repeat something I said in another post- Jackson and the Knicks would have looked like fools if they had let Galloway go and he latched on to another team and had success on that team. You don't develop a player, see him do well, and then throw him away.
I would have guaranteed his money next year and had a team option for a third year. That way we could have kept him if he exceeded expectations next year, and simply not picked up his final year if he did not become the player they were hoping he would be, or if we found someone better.
I really don't know why there was so much panic. LG was personally scouted and suggested by Phils best bud Clarence Gaines Jr. This just increases Gaines stature in the scouting dept. Gaines was the only guy Phil brought into the front office.
Credit Phil Jackson’s top adviser, Clarence Gaines Jr., for playing a part in “Langsanity.’’
According to a source, Gaines, the only front-office personnel man Jackson has hired to date, was the top supporter for bringing new combo guard Langston Galloway into the fold after he went undrafted in June out of little St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia.

Well Cleanthony has been hurt and Thanasis won't be called up this year at all just cause it's better for the Knicks contractual wise if he doesn't. I hope these reports you've seen are right cause i'd love to see the kid make it but i have my doubts. Can you confirm any of those reports on here?

People don't realize that Gaines was there in Chicago and he knows EXACTLY what kind of players Phil likes and needs. It's going to be very interesting to see how things go in the summer when they really get into this draft thing.

Thanasis' shooting is a worry, and I think that if he showed some accuracy with his jumper he might have been brought up. His 3pt shooting has taken a dive this year, although I expect the W.Knicks don't shoot 3s with the same frequency as the team he played with last year. He is not a natural shooter, so he might need more shooting from distance to help his accuracy.
Have not seen many Westchester games so I have no idea of how the Greek performs within the triangle. Saw clips of him last year, and I thought his shooting form was not broken and that he could improve it, but obviously, that did not happen.
Hard to judge Early's ability because of his injuries. Looking back, it might have been better to have him play in the DL, too, if that was possible.
Of the two players, I think Early has a better chance to become a rotational player in the NBA.

makes me wonder about the medical staff Phil wanted to replace...
