there is an often overlooked talent pool there. Players who are tweeners, roles players, etc.. just because a guy was good role player in college doesnt mean he cant be one in the pros also.

To me I just see an organization that is lacking talent and the Knicks should be looking under ever rock for guys who can play. I thought Mosgov a few years back was a good example of that also.

Knicks need to profit from every talent pool available.

Credit Phil Jackson’s top adviser, Clarence Gaines Jr., for playing a part in “Langsanity.’’
According to a source, Gaines, the only front-office personnel man Jackson has hired to date, was the top supporter for bringing new combo guard Langston Galloway into the fold after he went undrafted in June out of little St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia.

One more reason to give Phil the power to put in his own people.

makes me wonder about the medical staff Phil wanted to replace...

Unfortunately there's only so much grip Dolan was willing to release and Phil did an early clout check to see how far Dolan would let him go. Dolan is a real ASS and isn't the most willing to accept that he may not know what he's doing. I'm pretty sure this season has tested his patience to no end. Dolan will be chomping at the bit this summer with the big names in Free Agency that will be flying around. You know Dolan will be wanting to interfere so bad.

I actually feel very confident in the Knicks scouting staff. Over the years they've found some good players and much of the staff remains plus adding Phil and Gaines to the mix. I think they are very capable talent evaluators.

I think Early hasn't even scratched the surface of what he is capable of. This has just been a tough year for him, but we have to remember that he's really not had a chance to get fully comfortable due to the setbacks from his injuries. I think Early has a lot more to offer if he can really get serious this summer working on his overall game. In particular his ball handling skills. He has to gain more confidence in his dribble drive ability. Early has great athletic ability that he hasn't really been able to showcase except for a few breakaway dunks. Early needs to get stronger and become more aggressive. You can see he's not fully confident out there yet.

My thought here is how questionable our medical staff has been. If Phil had been able to make changes there- and I think he should have been allowed- and brought in staff he trusted, might he be better informed about Melo, Stat & Bargs?

Yeah he plays like a G or Gangster[on]

But you can't go wrong with LG "must see" T.V.

StarksEwing1 @ 1/27/2015 4:13 PM
Happy to hear and hopefully he continues to develop.

Ha, the doom panic early on in this thread reminded me of the doom panic around us not signing JayMychal Green. Speaking of which, Marc Berman just tweeted this:

#Knicks inquired today about PF JaMychal Green, who is leaving Spurs, but Jax has no roster spot. Green has 2 other offers on table.

Any idea why Green did not work out in SA? Might be a different offense, but the team concept is paramount to Pops, just as it is to Fisher and Phil.

Did he have trouble fitting into a system, or was he simply not what SA wanted?

He may have been some partial Kawhai insurance

But sine it appears the Spurs are beginning to regain form

It becomes once again a numbers game for some players

Plus his other offers are probably pretty decent

No idea, maybe he's just not that good. I always find it weird how some players can dominate in d league but can't do anything in the nba

Hard to say what he was, but hunch says he was possible insurance for Kawhai

Spurs are almost full strength, good luck making it on a championship caliber team midseason

Its not like the knicks did not know that before inquiring about Green so does this mean someone is going to be cut soon?

Why is Bargs still on the knicks? Knicks can’t even get an injured player exception. He is useless with no trade value so why keep him?

I had posted that the Knicks have tried to get JaMychal before. It wasn't because the Knicks didn't try to get the kid. I'm sure his agent wanted to see if he could catch on with the Spurs who are a great organization. Now perhaps his agent will be more open to coming to a team that has a need for talent and can open up a roster spot.

To keep open the option of trading his contract. He'll be bought out after the deadline.

He should be able to see that the Knicks present an opportunity for any player trying to get some playing time in the NBA. I have not really watched him play, but he is still young, and was associated with an NBA team that advocates team first play.

Hopefully we create an opening and give him the kind of opportunity others.
