I think that was smart. There is deadweight to get rid of or Pablo goes in a trade. At this point Bargs and Amare serve no purpose. Amare is untradeable and may have to retire. If Phil thinks he can move Bargs deal maybe you keep him around until the deadline.
Yea no way Amare & Bargnan fit in this new culture
Amundson.. I like him. 4 blocks last night. I can see him in a nice Scott Pollard type of role. Nothing wrong with adding hard working guys. He's more skilled than I thought.
Looks like our second string players are coming together for next year, having a solid bench that knows their role is an asset.
Yea I really wanted to add him during the 54win season for this very reason. We desperately needed toughness with all the injuries to the front court. After he was waived that year I suggested to Alan Hahn that we pick him up and he laughed at me. Missed pronounced his name and continues to miss pronounce his name
I think it's great.....these 3 10 day contract guys came in and are running a clinic on how to play hard and be professional. All of a sudden there is no issues with the triangle, the ball is movingand they are playing defense.
Everything is fun now. We're on a great path right now piecing together our team going forward

and they looked GREAT (4 wins) next to mr fat ass who put up 27/10 during that stretch. Even after Melo shuts it down its nice to see some early chemistry there. Galloway and Melo have been a nice duo.
Team building.
good for him.
work your azz off! thats my motto

Bargnani is going to surprise and be deadly someday, I guess not here though

How long before we start reading about how "ridiculous" mr fat ass thinks the Gway contract is?
Man, I could really get used to this winning thing. 45 wins, here we come!
Wait, how did this thread become about Melo? Oh sheehit!
4 blocks! <-- back on topic.
I love it. We need hungry hard working players who respect the game on This roster
Good good! I've been saying for a while now, I don't just want a roster of young players- we need some cheap vets for experience and leadership. It's not just about talent and upside. Also it sends out a good message to our players that we value hard work and attitude.

With the triangle, you have to add players early, so that you're not trying to teach a full team about the triangle offense. They will start policing themselves. Now we can go into next season, with half the team knowing the triangle, and these bench players will push the starters to perform at a high level.
My only question is whats the cap impact now that we have these 3 new contracts entering next year.

or any system for that matter... but yea, great post.
I think only Langston has any hold for next year, a partial guarentee.
My *guess* is that we fill up the roster cap wise, then add Lance and Louie to fill the empty roster spots.

practically nada. Roster holds are something like $500K and Galloway is probably targeted at $800K for next year, so it's ~$300K over the hold. We haven't heard if Lance, Lou have partials for next year but their overall impact is near nothing.
Yea I wouldnt worry about a few 100k at this point when Melo is making $24mil.
Phil is proving that he can still build a team around Melos contract. Seemed like an impossible task but it's looking good providing MELO stays healthy
Glad to see Amundson get his contract. He's a solid lunchpail guy. Every team needs players like that. I've been very pleased with not only his hustle but his ability to pass the ball. People aren't really talking about it but he moves the ball nicely. LG, LT and Amundson have all been able to play in the flow of the system and also defend. That's pretty much all you can ask for your role players. Now you see guys like Jason and THJ suddenly stepping up and getting in the same mental approach.

Love the effort and passion from these guys.
Its nice when you need to work hard for da money
Yea. Last time we had a team of guys who played hard for 48mins Don Chaney was coaching some 13yrs ago
Being a meritocracy is a good thing
