I hope you're right. That kind of response should be way beneath the dignity of an NBA team owner.
Me too, and it is not like it is a celebrity or anything. It is just some random die hard knick fan. Plus I could imagine that they get stuff like this EVERYDAY, so why respond to this one?
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/...
seems like its confirmed he did write the response
yet there are still a few remaining on this site that will defend him at any cost.
Who says I am trying to defend him, I just did not believe at the time(before someone provided my the espn link) that he would be so ignorant to do that;in fact, I hate him with a passion for all this melo bs that has happened.
WOw, shame on him though, that is something you would expect JR Smit to do.
I still have a hard time believing Dolan actually wrote that email.
Its petty beyond belief. And Adam Silver should get involved and force some kind of apology. Its absurd.
Dolan may be sober, but he's stupid. There is clear, irrefutable empirical evidence that Dolan has driven this franchise into the ground.
Same... This sounds like it was meant to sound like Dolan but its hard to imagine he would be so stupid to actually send this out. How would Dolan even get this mail? Its not like being a season ticket holder means you get his direct email. Typically sr. corporate officers had anything screened anyway.
That being said Dolan has a pattern of behavior consistent with this... he's not smart. At all.
You'd think some kind of denial would have come out by now.
Bonn1997 wrote:You'd think some kind of denial would have come out by now.
this.. keep waiting for it, not seeing it.
If he actually wrote this its a window into his world which is indeed even more ridiculous than any of us could have imagined
I don't doubt it is actually Dolan. And I don't have a problem with his response. People used to email Steve Jobs complaining about Apple and he'd respond randomly to some of them. We definitely aren't in a Great Age of Correspondance... don't think either letter is going to get the Ken Burns scan-and-pan voiceover treatment anytime in the future.

This peer through the window is just about exactly what I imagine. It's his "donut ass face" moment. I'm honestly surprised this stuff doesn't happen more.

Me too thought it was a pure fake. If not--Dolan really is off the wall with insecurity.
He's barely said anything publicly since "The Hiring Of The Triangular Saviour", but he's going to bother to send this out?
C'mon. This would possibly ruin his ability to self-book his next set of tour gigs.
By not even bothering to deny it gives it even less credibility. Ignore it completely.
LBJ was right: "Doesn't matter if it's true, just get them to deny it."
1. MSG confirmed it was Dumblan's email from himself.
2. When were we ever a championship caliber under Jim? Most of the years were overspending and even ranked #1 spending for years among all NBA teams and didn't make playoffs
3. His hiring? Well, we know the results, don't we?
4. This fan has been a fan for over some of you young ones combined, give the man some respect and remorse for being a Knicks fan that long.
5. Anyone here that thinks this fan did the wrong thing is, and I'm sorry to say and I'm sure I'll get flamed for, is a loyal moron. I'm a loyal Knicks fan but I want Jim to sell the team. He doesn't deserve to be an owner left alone he got it straight from his hard working dad.
6. If you think the Knicks has a chance to win champion next year, you're an even bigger moron.
7. We'll be a better team next year for sure.. we're at the bottom now, can't go lower than that.
8. Yeah, I'm still a Knicks fan for life. I just wish I had the money to put a big bounty on Jim Dumblan's head.
9. Instead of thinking why an old man, with nothing to gain, would write this hurtful letter, he went and tell the loyal fan to switch to a Nets fan. I can understand some of you say that, but he's a damn owner. He doesn't even want loyal fans anymore, period. He just wants to make money and do his thing his way and hope it hits big one day.
10. I'm not 100% of this statement, but I'm gonna say it, Phil Jackson's gonna quit soon when he realizes what a moron this owner is. Yes, I despise Jim.
The media is killing Dolan for that email::::)))
This 70 year old fan is delusional. Dolan had nothing to do with Kerr choosing GS. Dolan is a dumbass for picking this idiot to respond to
I thought reference to his father was a bit below. Dolans ownership record speaks for itself.

So not only has he NOT denied it but now Melo has commented on it. Insane. Utterly pathetic.
It shows how small this guy's mind is. I mean if he wanted to spew bile right back at the guy he could have, but what he wrote is a joke. I guess he will have something interesting to talk about in his AA meetings

well ... at least our owner and star are on the same page on this
to me this is a glass half full
Nalod wrote:I thought reference to his father was a bit below. Dolans ownership record speaks for itself.
I'm sure the dig at his pops was a trigger. He didn't like being sonned by some crotchety old fan. Maybe he knows this guy? If this is the biggest worry in a 70-year-old's life, God bless him.
Human being does something human. Not a big surprise. Dolan gets death threats for god's sake and is sincerely despised (Exhibit A: JamesLin's Dumblan rants) for some lame ass First World Problems people have with their his ball club.
You don't have to be drunk or an idiot to do this. He just should have put this in his diary or slept on it before deleting it.

Hey, if he needed to send a dumb email so he doesn't reach for a drink, more power to him. I don't know if the 21 years of sobriety is true, but if it is, this is nowhere near as pathetic as I'm sure he's been.

Silver is a smart and classy dude and I have been impressed with almost everything that he has done thus far.
saw that. Showed lack of taste and epic insecurity but I agree with Silver letting it go
He should right a song about it. Channel those inner emotions and struggles
I dunno. This situation makes me question the media of the coverage of the Knicks as much as, if not more than the ownership. I would agree that MSG's media policy has alienated the beat writers to a large degree, but at some point I want to channel my inner Lawrence Fishburne and say "Its a new day mother f---er". Seriously. What needs to happen that I don't have to hear every triviality in the Knick's past?
(As an aside, how is JR Smith now a victim? Let's see if the beat writers run with Barkley's statement as gospel or rebut him as any sane NYer would). This will be my litmus test.
And for those Knicks fans that have been around to see two championships -- shame on you for bitching now. Yeah, times are tough. Boo hoo get a tissue. But I never got to see a NY Knicks championship and I am still here saying screw you to the haters. I love this team.
so has anyone sent Jim an email yet?
How long before its changed?
I still can't believe someone as wealthy as James Dolan actually wrote that email. I would never hire someone like that to do any job, let alone be in charge of a sports franchise.
