PHX let him walk. Not often franchise players walk. They wanted to reward him but only a 3 years deal.
Dolan had to blow it away. He did. 100mil and no insurance.

To his credit he tried hard. That contract was nuts.

So Donnie and MDA hands are clean in this matter?..Dolan needed a pick and roll guy..

Right, Donnie as per his reputation in building teams in Indy hands out $100 million contracts that are not insured. A guy Dolan basically could no stand and within months ignored him by stepping over him to negotiate the Melo deal gets blame?

In 16 years 8 GM's and 9 coach's and all the while the ignorant starphuch spending stayed constant. So yeah, Lay blame on them all but forget who the boss is?

Cue up the Dolan blame for Phil's actions...

Cue up the hijack of the Amar'e appreciation thread. Typical.

I am an Amar'e fan. Good luck to him. Maybe he'll find his championship glory as a backup for the Spurs.

Sounds like PHX actually wants him back. Probably get his number retired there if that happens...

When Amare returns to The Garden in the uniform of another team you will cheer, have a negative response or be indifferent?

And why?

Cheer. It wasn't his fault that the Knicks overpaid him despite the fact that his deal couldn't be insured and doctors in Phoenix had put a timeline on how long he could play. Aside from the fire extinguisher incident and the back injury dunking during warm ups, Amare was a good guy. He always worked really hard to overcome his set backs.

A fun break down of Amare's time as a Knick.

it was not his fault that we signed him

it was not his fault that we did not amnesty him

it is not his fault that he is quite dumb

so he decided to bathe in wine and get circumcised (to fit into NY)

therefore, I would politely cheer for him if he came back.

How funny is that? Was there anyone else stunned? Did anybody in the world besides him not see this coming?

amare's tenure with the knicks could have turned out much better if...

a)he didn't go for that silly dunk in warmups in the middle of the celtics series.... we had a shot in taking that to game 7 with him healthy... that injury changed him forever...
b)the fire extinguisher incident - dumb.. just dumb...

that first year... really those first 40 games... were much needed entertaining basketball after a decade of nothing... the knicks couldn't quite turn the corner...
