Knicks · After watching the Magic--I wonder if this makes sense (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 2/12/2015 5:38 PM
They have a start in Vucevic but they really do need more star power and scoring--they dont score enough. Carmelo represents 25 points on that team hes a full tier above Harris anyway you want to put it--hes still a star and hed be healthy.

How about pick # 5-7 and a resigned Tobias Harris(5 years 60mm) to the Knicks for Carmelo? That helps both clubs and doesnt alter salary situations for either club very much either

That would give the Magic

C-Vucevic
PF Frye
SF Carmelo
SG Olapido
PG Payton

We could put Harris at either PF or SF and would give us an additional 10mm in cap and a nice pick.

This makes sense but Melo wants to have his brand in the big market. Orlando is not where he wants to be. Truthfully that lineup is great for him. Fits seamlessly.

I think now in hindsight the Knicks probably shouldn't have signed Melo. They literally could have just signed Tobias to play the 3. All that is hindsight though

Briggs -- you've got to understand that Melo isn't going anywhere at least for a couple of years and he's not going anywhere but maybe LA.

Also - Magic want nothing to do with Melo ---- outside of the few teams that went after him last summer, the rest of the league is too smart to chase the Melo mirage.

Also -- Tobias Harris can be had for peanuts --- he hasn't shown enough and Magic are NOT going to want to put up the $$$ he'll demand in FA --- so he can be had with a different package IMO.

I do not believe you can sign n trade RFAs
callmened @ 2/12/2015 8:08 PM
Melo isnt going to be traded to orlando. lol
Nalod @ 2/12/2015 9:28 PM
The bigger question is why watch Orlando???

Just kidding, Trades makes sense but I don't see Melo consenting.

Orlando is a good team that needs a star. What are the odds of Orlando being a top team with a top 3 C all star a 25 point scorer all star and a bunch of really good additional players--and yes live in the warm weather year round. The NY Knicks might be bad for a few years.

mreinman @ 2/12/2015 9:56 PM
Melo is not waving his no trade to go to orlando and orlando is not give up a top pick to take on a 124 million dollar brittle star with suspect team oriented play.

Of course the knicks would do it but this is another pipe dream knick fan biased trade proposal.

Nobody wants to go to Orlando. Place is a sh1thole.

What happen to Moe Harkless and Andrew Nicholson development?

You are acting like a 12 yr old kid. There is NO way Melo is going to consent at least this yr coming up to going ANYWHERE. I also don't think Phil at this point wants to trade him. This is all just a waste of time. Melo is going to be on this team next year and Phil is going to add to the talent with one high draft pick and some free agents and maybe some non-melo trades.

This is just another case of a teams fan undervaluing their own player. What is 12 year old about moving an all star for a pick and a player? I bet Orlando might do it.

Thats not the question, if orlando would do it. The fact is there is NO chance of this trade ever happening. Melo is NOT waiving his no trade clause. It a 12 yr old that keeps insisting if this trade makes sense. Its an unrealistic trade and it doesn't make sense because Melo ISN'T leaving at least this year.

franco12 @ 2/13/2015 1:31 AM
who knows! Maybe Melo has already told Phil he would waive his no trade clause- there was all that talk earlier in the year.

I personally don't see Phil or the Knicks looking to move Melo.

Call me stupid, but I still think healthy Melo, top 5 draft pick and a set of nice FA signings in the off season, and we'll be competitive and set to improve over the next few years.

I think next season, if we're still struggling, then yes, Melo might very well ask for and be receptive to a trade- and a team like Orlando with no state income tax could be very appealing.

i dont think phil has a choice in the manner as long as dolan is the owner unless melo demands a trade
SupremeCommander @ 2/13/2015 9:50 AM
I think signing Tobias Harris outright makes more sense
