I brought this up before but this all star break he opened his own mouth about the Knicks....

He could leave Portland. If he comes to ny he could be paired with melo and a top draft pick. I think LaMarcus wants the spotlight. He wants people to know who he is. I think the idea of playing under Phil and in the triangle might be attractive to him. I think this is now a 50/50 possibly. Far from the how this idea was a few weeks ago.
I would personally hate the move - 4 more years for a guy with tons of minutes at age 29. Lines up too well with Melo, and I'd rather not roll the dice that my two aging stars can both be healthy.
I'd rather see us spend our money on players that are just a bit younger.

Like dragic, Gasol and Matthews?
LMA is a more healthy Amare. Positionally that duo was doomed, this one would be even worse because they are older. The main free agent acquisition is gonna be the one we dont draft. A premier guard or center.
The good thing is guys are saying they want to come to ny. Tobias Harris reportedly has told friends he wants to win a championship as a Knick. It should be an interesting summer.
Tobias wants to get paid. None of these cats are saying they want to play in NY...except LeBron, well actually he said MSG.
Harris is always hurt..Kind of alarming the number of games he has missed since entering the league ..He also plays the same position as Melo..We should be able to find better use for 10/12 mil per..
IDK how I feel about L.Aldridge getting a long term contract at the tender age of 29y/o but I do believe he would excel in the triangle.
I don't see him leaving though. Portland is a great city! I would live there before moving back to NY
Aldridge is just a really good player. The advanced guys will probably loath him as he takes tons of long 2s, but he's very good. Plays both ends of the floor, a bonafide glass cleaner and will block some shots as well. As max players go he's borderline. Very good player.

He does take alot of turn around jumpers from 20 ft out lol. In the triangle he would fit so seem less imho because of that jumper.
Just sticking LA and Melo On The current team healthy and ready to play and that's a dangerous playoff team.
I can't wait till this draft. I want to get this thing started

His efficiency is about league average and his defensive #s are very good. If we're going to try to build around Carmelo, we'll have to get the best veterans we can before his prime runs out and have a lot of luck too. Aldridge wouldn't be the first choice but he'd still be adequate. I think his max would be somewhere closer to 4 years, $90 mil.

Unfortunately i don't see him leaving Portland and his words about New York were just him saying the right things that free agents are supposed to say but he would be a HUGE get for us and he's absolutely perfect for the triangle. We only need to get one big name to sign with us and other free agents will want to come to the Knicks to play with Melo and a first round pick and that big name. Right now with just melo i don't think the Knicks are a attractive enough situation for other free agents but if we can get just one that will change everything. Would love for that one to be either LA or Gasol.

Besides T.Harris who are the other players that are saying they want to come to NY??

This is what the thread topic was about:
LaMarcus Aldridge may have fallen in love with New York over NBA All-Star Weekend. Aldridge, who becomes a free agent this summer, heavily praised the host city, the fans, Knicks president Phil Jackson and also made some suggestive comments to the media about how he would be a great fit in the type of offense the Knicks run
Also, Dragic has relayed that he would be open to NY. Not sure about other guys.

no brainer. I would jump at this. If there is a chance he's willing to play here we should be at his doorstep at midnight.
I wonder if he would be willing to move to center. He takes a lot of jumpers, and he's a very good shooter. He's got a very similar offensive game to Ewing. He can create his own shot in the post, but he can also drain those 15-18 footers all day as Ewing did so well once he hit 30.
Come to NY and your a pending free agent, you gonna be asked questions.
If you don't have a market for your services, nobody, even your own team won't give you max.
Make a market because of your play AND never say anything that shows your hand cuz you'll reduce the demand!!!!
Thats why Durant, Aladrige and Gasol will never say anything bad about NY, or LA, or anywhere!!!!
As fans, we can read hope into the statements all we want. What does it mean? One never knows.
I'd say one never really knows what moves some of these guys. Money is a big deal, but a guy like Gasol might want be very comfortable in Memphis, and at the same time could enjoy near privacy in NYC if he was not 7 foot tall. I get why Pau did not want to come here given his age but Marc could be drawn to Phil and the cultural benefits of being in NYC. He'll make more in Memphis.
Nothing he said sounded like he wanted to sign here. His statements were as bland and generic as you can get; you could substitute any city and he could be talking about them.
I don't have the quotes but Brandon knight didn't endorse the Knicks when he was asked about free agency. He said he thinks players want to go were there is already something established. So he didn't do what dragic and LaMarcus did. Wesley Mathews blew the question off too.
So when LaMarcus talked about the Knicks he spoke as though he gave it some thought. He would be interested. Knicks just have to keep things tight and if the opportunity is right they could tell LaMarcus, if you come this is what we will look like. Simple. It's up to LaMarcus to make that Decision.

he is definitely a very good player though not an efficient shooter due to the long 2's as you have stated.
he does do a number of other things well as well which makes him a very good player.
Super Max? I hope not.
I just don't think a player who plans to leave in free agency would play through a hand injury like he is. He was in NY and said what we wanted to hear. A few weeks ago he said there was no way he would leave Portland, and he only didn't extend because he wants to sign a long term contract with them. There is no way he will leave them and sign here.

Is he eligible for the super max? I think players with his level of experience can get 30% of the cap, not 35, like Melo. Obviously we can only give him a 4 yr contract too.
His TS% is about average. If we signed him, I'd wish for him to stop shooting those long 2s. He has excellent #s around the rim.
