Because it sounds better than 'the next Al Jefferson'! We're trying to give ourselves hope here in a difficult season!

And even that sounds better than the next Christian Laetner or Michael Olowokandi!

i wasnt trying to knock okafor. He can still be a all star type player without being duncan. My point was duncan was one of those rare big men who is drafted and immediately makes the team a contender

Duncan got to break with Robinson also!!!
Okafor hurt his ankle and was not the same the rest of the game.
Put a youtube video on to see his greatness!!!
Randolph Childress was awesome in college!!!!

The more I look at Okafor the more I see Elton Brand. I really think that is who he is comparable to. I also see a bit of Boozer. So like the Knick obsessed fan that I am...I googled Okafor and Brand and found this nice little article.

If his ceiling is Elton Brand then would you draft an Elton Brand-type player now at number 1?

If it makes you feel any better, we can say that OK4 is already a better passer than Jefferson. He also appears to be comfortable on both sides of the block, which is something that took Jefferson a while to get used to.

Yes, Elton Brand was a hell of player when he was healthy.

Hes the "Next Duncan" if by "Next Duncan" you mean "Next Al Jefferson"...

Sorry bad joke...Try the veal, Ill be here all week folks!

In all seriousness, it's a guessing game until these guys get to the pros. We all sometimes forget they are just kids who've never gone up against the talent of even a low level NBA team in their lives. So many "Next So and So's" in the dustbin of draft bust history. And Im not dumping on Ok4. You take your pick of the top guys who have the best shot in your opinion and hope for the best. Sometimes it works, sometimes, ehh.
