Hey Guns... this is what you said when the trade went down:

Dallas just gave us all that for a 28min overrated player wow. They seem confused thinking they are getting the champion Tyson. At least he won't catch the flu as often in Dallas

I love the UK revisionist history. At the time Tyson/JR/Felton were regarded as albatross contracts dragging us down. Tyson has played like a guy looking for one last big deal. You Guns were pretty pumped to have Felton and Tyson gone and (I thought this too) that Dalembert would give you anything Tyson did the year before. It didnt work out. We were both wrong.

You have to look at what we had going at the time and this was not a bad trade. Early hasnt had a good year but still has a stretch here he cant show something. Tyson has been great for Dallas. Calderon has done nothing for the Knicks. You know what else? It could all flip again. Tyson gets a new contract and gets the flu for another 25 games a year. Calderon goes back to being a good facilitator and deadly shooter. We also got some young guys to look at who didnt show much.

It was a trade that needed to happen, and it didnt work out, but actually still can.

If ANYONE on this board can tell me this time last year they thought Tyson would be playing at a high level I call BS. This forum was littered with Tyson sucks threads.

ha ha!

True- thats whats annoyed me over the Tyson trade: hindsight and the complete hypocritical 100% revisionist history, it's a joke.

so you don't blame phil on the tyson trade?

gunsnewing @ 2/20/2015 1:19 PM
That's the problem people here are more focused on certain posters than what is actually going on with the Knicks

No. He traded a player, and that player improved and increased their value after they were traded. It happens. We got 2 2nd rounders and larkin (a late first rounder the year before). At best we could have held out for a late first, but is it really that much better than Larkin, Early and the Greek kid? Our most recent late 1st have been Shump and Tim Jr. What I didn't like was him not picking up larkins option- that made no sense to me and made him untradeable.

People romanticize draft picks- as soon as we actually use them the same people clamouring for us to get more picks, blast the rookies only a few months into their careers. Oh, Larkin's trash! Early is trash! Tim Jr is trash! (agreed!) Shumpert is trash!

I've never been a fan of Calderon, but it's looking like there are no PGs in free agency, in 2015 (moves at the deadline make them all less likely to be available). Him at $7mil is okay. If we'd kept Felton he'd have been a $4mil cap hit, so you'd be unlikely to find someone better than Calderon for $3mil.

fishmike @ 2/20/2015 1:23 PM
actually forget about the Thanisis... dont think we see him till next year but thats a wild card also. At the end of the day if Early and Thanisis are rotation players this looks pretty good for the Knicks. If Calderon plays well next year even more so. Right now the Knicks look like losers... and thats 100% fair. All Im saying is that can change, and Tyson was bad and Felton had to go.

Well ... I am sure that phil blames himself A LOT!

But its nice when you can do no wrong in fans eyes. Loyalty should not judge ... its all good

The real problem around here is that posters post trash and then say you're focusing on them instead of the Knicks when you point out that they're incoherent, inconsistent, or just plain stupid.

Then they will also tell you not to post trash.

The UK, where amazing happens!

maybe its time to focus on the knicks instead of trashing posters who you feel trash players or in most of your cases a certain player

So do you actually know when any of the knicks are logging onto this site? I mean, so we can focus on them, instead of posts about the knicks players? Is that what you mean?

Slow down, big fella, breathe through your nose and try to make sense out of your own sentences first.

Well a few days ago you admitted that you go after certain posters who you feel attack melo. Thats fine BUT you shouldnt let it bother you. Everyone has a right to their own opinion regarding players

I'd like to see my own words to exactly that effect, please.

I'm fairly consistent about incoherence in other's posts. Everyone has their own opinion on other's posts, and everyone can trash or support players. America is great country, no?

It's why our vaunted ownership called that button "Quote"

There were some, maybe 10% of the board, that thought the Tyson trade was bad at the time.

Are you serious??? Early in 2 games in the D league averaged 18.5 pts and 11 rebs. Stop making sheet up. You are better than this. On 2nd thought I guess you aren't.

He's going to get a chance now so we will see. I watched the first game. He was awful despite mediocre stats

you saw 1 game and you made a full on decision about a player? How about paying attention to what he has done in the DLeague as a whole and in his most recent outings.

Early needs a chance to play. Im worried about his lack of dribble drive game and the reality that he played 4 in college but he does have some potential and he's a plus athlete. At his size 6-8 200 he needs a dribble drive UNLESS he morphs into a 3 pt specialist type. He can move back to the 4 in the D league--but can he pick up 10 rebounds in the nBA? The only way to find out is to let him go play 32 minutes free.

knicks1248 @ 2/20/2015 4:04 PM
the trade looks horrible because we are at a franchise low, any player in the league playing under fisher in this Bermuda triangle, would be down right horrible.

Thats not a shot directed at fisher, but he's just a rookie coach who is clearly not close to being ready. So weather TYSON, EWING, HAKEEM, SHAQ, who ever, their values would have been at all time lows, because he deosn't know what he's doing yet, and it's going to take years, not months, for him to be a avg coach

Early hasn't done anything to impress me on the NBA level. I can usually find something positive about every KNICK rookie. I haven't seen anything out from Early. He is going to get a chance to at now. If he amounts to anything I will gladly eat crow. However I would not be surprised if he is packaged in a deal at some point as a throw in. I just don't see Early salvaging this awful trade

You still talkin this nonsense? It's not about Fisher right now. It's about developing talent, drafting talent and signing talent in free agency. You have no idea how good Fisher is or isn't. The team has been much better since the trade. They lack talent and the young players still need more time to develop but they don't play like a poorly coached team. They play like a team lacking front line talent.

You should go back to the season win prediction threads and the threads after the Tyson trade then. You'll find a lot of material.
