I think that the way the game is watered down and all everyone does is shoot 3 points it waters down the skill set of how basketball is supposed to be played. I like 3 point shooting but there are more things to the game of basketball. Even though the basketball players who play defense and can't touch the players yet more players are still getting hurt and I don't know why. Do you know why?
I still believe the way the NBA is build with their laws it hurt more teams like the Knicks and the Lakers.
Funny thing..Was watching the Warriors/Spurs game last night...Curry juked his man at the top of the key and got into the lane...He faked another guy in the lane and went behind his back changing hands and did a lefty layup at the rim untouched...Came down smiling and ran up court..He came down on the next possession and did it again without going behind his back..First of all, he wouldn't have the guts to do that in the early 90s...How on earth this guy didn't get a hard foul is beyond me...Oak/Mase/Starks would have crushed him...
The game has changed so much..No hand checking on the perimeter...I had my doubts about Curry when he first came out of college..All the rules changes suits the perimeter players and his game... Good for them...
Case and point, Ibaka has been working on his outside shot and three point shot...Last 4 years his team needed some low post offense...Why would he ever work on his low post game??..
I want to take out the corner three.

I agree.
and we should make the basket 13 feet high with no dunks

one of the problems is everyone thinks they must be able to dunk in order to play in the NBA
I would change it so you get 3 pts for a mid range shot and only 2pts for what is now a 3pter, just until players and coaches start using the midrange game. Then I'd switch them every month.

why don't they just move in the line to 18 feet?

Because there would be a small moat around the 18ft arc, with crocodiles at the bottom of it, just to deter that kind of thing.
the range of players has increased and all players could shoot now, I think there actually should be a 4point line
Gone are the Larry Bird no look passes...Kareem no look back door passes...Magic with the full court bounce passes to Worthy..John Stockton and Malone midrange game...McHale multiple moves in the post...The dream shake..John Williamson one legged baseline shot..Dudes like Iceman creating poetry and art in the lane...
Each team should be allowed 6 more players on the court. The court should be extended by about 60 yards to make room for this, and the baskets should be replaced by goalposts. Every "basket" counts for only one point though. Also, the court is too hard, players get hurt. So replace that with grass, which of course can't grow properly inside, so the games will have to take place outside.

im too young (32) to have seen that era - wish i could have, players were so much more well-rounded in those days it seems.

Yup same. Those were the 3 teams. Every time we played those teams it was like the Super Bowl. It's been way too long

absolutely. watched quite a few of those games in your living room bro.
Not many players have a mid range game anymore, I guess the numbers say to go for 3. Its a shame.
reporter: antoine, why do you shoot so many 3s?
antoine walker: cuz there aint no 4s

Maybe there should be a limit to how many 3s you can shoot in a quarter just how many fouls you are allowed and then you go to the penalty .
Moving, 20-foot hight baskets driven by random generators (the old Granpa Shaq All Sport Drink commercial), and each team has to play games against NBA4K holograms. Or velociraptors, yeah! they have to shoot threes from 40 feet against 9 foot tall extinct dinosaurs (the Vince Carter Gatorade commercial).

Hit the owners: How about the commissioner replaces all these stupid salary cap BS rules with one "defensive indifference luxury tax"? Base it on where your team lands defensively at the end of each season. Would rather see that than this insipid racing for ping pong balls.
Hit the players: What if you arent' eligible for a max contract (yes, the MeloLoverPoliceChief is saying this) unless you average above a certain amount in meaningful defensive statistics? You can all debate endlessly what's truly "meaningful" defensively, I don't really care.
Stop moving the lines and the hoop and just mess with the money. It's a business. This concept is why I've started to hate baseball, precisely because they keep messing with the fences and the ball and the bats and the game's never the same 5 years in a row.
Does the NFL change the size of the field and the ball because defensive linemen are running 4.0 forties and WR's are catching the ball with one hand? How's that league doing?
