This started out with a disagreement on if teams overpay in free agency and the answer is easily a big yes. Teams overpay all the time to get free agents.

I agree. I think you have to if you want to bring a good player in. The only exceptions were the guys fleeing the Lakers who still were paid handsomely.
This is why I don't think it's as bad an idea to go for a young big like Monroe, depending on how we do in the draft. If we pick OK4 then no I wouldn't go for Monroe. However, if we end up with Russell or Mudiay, then I think it would be a good move. He'd be only 25 next year and would fit in with a younger new core for the team going forward.

Were you here for that 54 win season a couple of years ago? Some people on these boards invented a new category of 'moral loss' so they could still complain even when we were winning!
