Knicks · Alexey Schved and Langston Galloway - Long live the BBC (page 1)

Who likes these two?

Schved at 6'6 provides versatility. The poised Langston Galloway rebounds, speaks with a refreshing humility and plays taller than 6'2 by rebounding the ball.

Amundson and Jason Smith show flashes of understanding team basketball and work hard. Suddenly, the knicks have more team-oriented players sharing responsibility.

(imagine these no-name Knicks with Timofey Mozgov)

It would be nice if those 2 panned out and we can focus all our resources on fixing the frontcourt

That would be awesome if G2 turned out to be a really decent point guard, like Darren Collison and SHved turns out to be consistent.

I am not sure what the Knicks will do with Shved's contract. He has a team option for just under 4 million. Can the Knicks not pick up his option and still resign him? I have read a few articles on him and he said it was always his dream to play in the nba. Not sure if he wouldn't go back to Russia if the Knicks didn't pick up his option.
misterearl @ 3/1/2015 12:11 PM
Schved is smart. Galloway is smart.

They can grow together.

earthmansurfer @ 3/1/2015 12:11 PM
Galloway looks to be a keeper so far, at least an off the bench guy for next year.

And consider, when Melo is out there and some other great players (i.e. - FA signings, our draft pick, etc.) Galloway will get more open looks.

Shved is sort of another shocker so far. (Briggs to criticize in 3, 2, 1...) Seriously, he looks like a smart cat with some good ability and I hope he continues to improve.
I'd love a him fulfill those early forecasts (similar to his play on the Russian national team.) And same goes for him with Melo and some other great players out there.
I think his shot will come around as he feels comfortable. It is a tough thing to perform when not getting minutes (excluding his rookie year.)

We are watching auditions most likely for our bench next year, depending on how much we can get through FA and the draft.

I am open to anything that will help the Knicks. Shsvyd should get just as much opportunity as admundson Galloway's Thomas and bargnani. He has not been good in multiple years in the NBA but we can say that about different players. Looks like a nice kid and good teammate. I will be 110% behind him to succeed and to possibly stay here. Its much easier to go with what u already have. Best of luck k to Alex and the new t 25 games I hope he proves to be an asset

Sometimes players need a situation where they can flourish. Schved has bounced around. Cool. Mase bounced around and Pat Riley saw something he liked in Summer League. The rest is Knicks history. Mase took advantage of an opportunity. Schved would become a Garden favorite. Who needs Ricky Rubio?

Galloway and Schved are our feel good stories, for now.

smackeddog @ 3/1/2015 12:53 PM
Schved looks very thin, almost unhealthily so for a ball player- has he always been this weight or did he drop some pounds lately?

Lets see what he can do- one of the advantages of system basketball is you can find diamonds in the rough due to the system complementing them well.

Rookie @ 3/1/2015 12:54 PM
I like your enthusiasm and agree that their performance the last few games is thread worthy.

I thought you were announcing the title of some new Jules Jordan flick when I first saw the title.

He's very quick for a 6'6 pg/sg would putting on pounds ruin his quickness? What I really like about schved is his court awareness, ability to get the ball to the open man, his ability to penetrate to the hoop is something we have been seriously missing for the whole season. Schved was the first pg we've had since lin to penetrate and dish like Schved did vs Toronto let's hope he can continue to do so we can not under estimate having someone who can penetrate and break down the defense for the triangle to function... If Schved continues to prove he has excellent court vision. he's well worth bringing back..

fitzfarm - having watched our two no name guards, (and our no name frontcourt) can you envision how these two Yutes would mesh with (Melo alert) our gifted offensive weapon Mr. Carmelo Anthony?

Do they develop or defer?

nixluva @ 3/1/2015 3:00 PM
Shved has the Pro experience that you want while still being young. Gotta love his size, BB IQ and overall skills. As much as there's been bashing of Phil's moves he's been good at adding players who fit what we're doing and have a hungry demeanor. It's had a positive impact on the team when you have all these guys who have been overlooked and now have a chance to prove who they are. IMO there's less of a need to spend tons of money this summer if we can get good production from guys like Shved, Gallo, Amundson, Thomas, Smith, Bargs etc.

We'd be talking about drafting well and adding a couple of good FA's. That's a much better proposition than it started to look like we might be facing. We really needed guys to start playing better at the very least. The wins just underscored the improvement, tho we don't have to go undefeated the rest of the way for Phil to see the value in a bunch of these players. We just need to keep seeing the effort and execution even if they lose games.

misterearl @ 3/1/2015 3:10 PM
nixluva - watching the player interviews from last reminds us that bonding may take place, despite the most dismal situations. Ten wins through February is not very good. Two wins in a row makes for a confidence builder.

Galloway, Shved And Amundson, all spoke with a twinkle in their eyes. However painful the season, winning two games makes a great confidence builder. It builds toughness and loyalty to the uniform. That cannot be measured in salary cap numbers or fantasy trade speculation.

How does Uncle Phil implant the heart and soul of a team?

EnySpree @ 3/1/2015 3:12 PM
It's all about opportunity.....all the guys that are playing well are seizing the first real opportunity they ever had at the nba. It's great to see. I love this group.
WaltLongmire @ 3/1/2015 3:40 PM
Schved played some decent minutes as a rookie with Minnesota while Rubio was injured.

Don't think he was terrible by any stretch of the imagination for a first year international player, even though he was an older rookie.

His career per 36 minutes numbers are pretty close to what he gave us yesterday.

Had 3 turnovers- one where he tried to get fancy on a ally-oop pass, one where he anticipated another Knick stepping out for the ball, and he didn't, and another near the end of the game where he stupdly f'd up because he got himself into a position where the spacing was terrible.

Continual minutes should help him more with his outside shot than anything else, and will also get him used to the tendencies of this Knicks team. He should get 25 MPG, IMO.

He's thin as a rail, but has some jumping ability, and his feet might be quick enough for him to play decent D if he is willing. Can't see him fighting through picks, though. Also has a good first step, or so it would seem.

I would sit Calderon down for the rest of the year, unless for some reason I cannot fathom at this moment, playing him can help get us something in a trade if he plays well. Of course some feel playing Calderon is better for tanking purposes.

NYKBocker @ 3/1/2015 5:23 PM
Shved is a taller slower Jeremy Lin. He looks good.
