Our culture change is retro

@alanhahn: #BluePaintMovement RT @GeneralBK: @alanhahn Let Phil and Steve start with getting the paint back to blue!!! Bring back the classic floor!

GustavBahler @ 3/3/2015 8:31 PM
"If you build it they will come.......maybe". I did love the blue floor, brings back great memories. A new logo would be nice as well, never liked this one.

Culture Change and Design Excellence

GustavBahler - excellent points. The hip hop logo was a concession to the times. If we have gone retro with the uniforms, why not extend the look with the classic white warmup jackets and side vent detailing on the shorts?

Compared with the uniforms of the seventies, the new (adidas) jerseys seem cheap with the shortened typography. The home whites, especially on the nameplates, do not convey the feel of the "classic" era. The names were customized with a condensed font that felt taller, like a basketball player in its construction.

It is always about the details.

BRIGGS @ 3/3/2015 8:55 PM
The way this starts to change is by grabbing a 6-11 talented PF?C from the draft--and that is ONLY phase 1. The floor of the Garden W G A F?

"If you look good, you play good."

BRIGGS - please. If your appreciation of Knicks basketball is limited to proposing wet fantasy trades, please do not interfere with those of us (Alan Hahn included) who have a more sophisticated appreciation for the critical role of design in branding a franchise. Do you know what color warmup Trainer Danny ("big time") Whelan made famous?

If you have nothing to add, you are welcome to stay on threads that fit your preferences.

It is only basketball.

I practically grew up with this logo and don't like it. It doesn't need any massive change just small adjustments to get it to look really good. Getting rid of the triangle is the most important. It's completely ugly and totally pointless. Other improvements would be to make the "K" and "S" the same font size as the rest of KNICKS. Also, I'd like to see us bring this logo on, like, our warmups or something.

Interesting, to me I wouldn't say it is a offical culture change until we know whether Melo will buy in or not and if he dosen't whether we actually work to trading him.

Would you trade the logo you grew up with for the first logo? Talk about old school! Can't post this right now but here is the link for the pic..

Grew up with the second logo, the second and third are my favorite.

I like the original in a retro way but wouldn't want it as our current logo though I'm glad that the Westchester Knicks use it. The 2nd and 3rd logos are my favorite too. The logo I want looks almost exactly like our 3rd logo with only slight tweaking.

Nalod rocks on Til the break of dawn

BRIGGS - THAT is why design is important. It links us to our legacy. One cannot begin to talk about "culture change" unless you fully understand what the Knicks championship culture was based on. The people who set the standard, and of course, what they wore to the game.

Naked - Nice catch big homey!
