He was supposed to sign with Boston but it didn't go through for whatever reason

McGee returns to market, multiple playoff teams interested. McGee doesn't want to give up freedom for next year, wants player option.

Yeah Javale, the freedom to play poorly and not lose a year of guaranteed money because the option is yours and not the team's.

He can bring nothing to us. I would say no.

I'm actually a big Stan Van Gundy fan. I know he has his flaws and there are some aspects of his handling players that I think could be different and would help him dramatically.

However I think he has a strong sense of how to handle big men. I wish Stan Van Gundy was the Knicks coach. I think McGee would do better going to the Pistons and seeing if SVG can untap some of that raw talent.

I think a McGee would be a decent super low cost risk if you had a David West or Paul Pierce type on the roster. Or a Garnett. Someone who can control and moderate a locker room.

One of the interesting things about late career Roger Clemens is that a lot of young pitchers around him were interviewed and basically admitted they worshipped him. If Clemens said do this, they did it. And they would do it until their fingers fell off. Lots of young pitchers said being around Clemens meant they had to work harder than they ever did before. Because that was the expectation from Clemens.

Knicks, if they want to mine the value of some of these wayward contract cuts, need a few veterans like this. Someone who can dominate the locker room in a positive way. Who knows when to push and pull with some players versus others. Who can be a bridge to the locker room for the coach and management.

Marc Gasol is one of the only guys who I think can be that guy.
