very good watch
perhaps he can work with Melo and teach him a bit?
or, maybe he can teach us the triangle.
the crux of this as it pertains to the knicks is that they speak of dirk nowitzki and how dirk can score 20ppg while touching the ball a cumulative total of a 1:28! this is the biggest difference between dirk succeeding where carmelo has failed. a corollary is dirk being a far more efficient player. any comparison between these two players is ridiculous. dirk has a far tighter game.
If any of you want lessons on how to butter your bread, I can teach you how to do it efficiently and without any extra jab spreads. I don't do nut butters though.

yikes...LOL
I just realized if you used any of those as keywords in a google search you may end up on Brokeback Mountain with a handsome stranger.
the whole dirk thing has been known for awhile but maybe not known to your avg streetballer...
all the best offenses in the history of basketball all stressed quick ball decision making which in turn makes quick ball movement... the triangle fails with new and crappy players because they take long times to make decisions which messes up the flow... popovich institutes a drill in practice where anyone who has a ball needs to do something within a second of receiving it whether dribble somewhere, shoot or pass...
this is inherent in most good players... where you can make both effective and quick decisions... and it's important not only because of the shotclock but the ball moves faster than people so if you shoot, dribble or pass quickly you get the defense scrambling the quicker you go... stopping the ball like alot of players who've come through new york recently... let's the defense recover which everyone knows by now... possession times highlight this effect...

And that describes the only times I've enjoyed watching Melo play. On the rare occasion he actually plays basketball and shoots or passes quickly I can say he was effective and worthy of praise. The rest of the time watching him is the antithesis of good basketball.

and are you also waiting for melo to conform? because that is the main issue with the triangle knicks and melo.
yea.. that was mainly the thing i was looking for.. and i've seen it in spurts.... but he gets in the mode of 'i need to shoot now' way too often still and instead focuses on what move he needs to do to break down his man...
it's good in small doses... kobe and michael were good enough to power through that aspect because sometimes they just had to... melo just needs to learn to pick his spots to create better...

And that is why Phil is FOS. He should have trashed his triangle talk the second he committed his war chest to Melo. The gall he has had in trying to snowjob the public with this vision of triangles when he is building around the anti-christangle is just too much for a sane person to take.
Phil has been a con artist. I think he conned himself by staring in the mirror and muttering about triangles. He is supposed to be so brilliant, but he is either delusional or a con artist. Or a bit of both. Either way, Phil is FOS.
