Knicks · Id give up my 2018 #1 with only top 3 restrtiction to get Kaminsky (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 3/9/2015 8:33 AM
If somehow he falls a big into the mid range which I find almost impossible--I would offer a juicy low restrictive 2018#1(top 3 only) and the rest of my number 2's that I have for Kaminsky. If there is anyway to get Towns and Kaminsky I want to do it.

I like Kaminsky and If we had another first rounder i would love to draft him but i still see him a mid round pick and good role player which is fine.

I don't like the idea of giving away picks, but Kaminsky is worth it; specifically if we end up selecting D. Russell.

Briggs, if the choice were to be Kaminsky or Stein, what would be your pick?

Inside/outside big men... I think it would work on offense.

Just wonder about Kaminsky on D, Briggs, especially considering the popularity of PFs who operate around the perimeter. Not sure you want Kaminsky guarding a stretch 4 and getting beat off the dribble all the time. Even with Town in the paint, it would cause havoc.

I've watched him a lot recently. He is a confident player on offense, who has been given a lot of freedom by his coach to play inside or outside, although I think he is more comfortable starting on the perimeter. I've seen some weak post-up moves that were cringe-worthy, but have also seen some nice moves to the basket, and I think he has the kind of BB IQ which will allow him to learn and adapt.

He just looks very slow in terms of lateral movement, and the rules in the NBA really "penalize" guys with limited lateral quickness.

If you have Anthony and Kaminsky as forwards, you really need a defender like a Towns to back them up.

Wonder if Jackson might think about picking him if we don't have a top 3 pick. Good long and midrange shot...good decision maker- seems like a good fit for the offense we want to run. You never know what they will see when they work him out.

Given my belief that we want rookies who can readily fit in with an aging Anthony, an intelligent kid like Kaminsky would be worth protected draft pick at this point.

I just think hes a great basketball player. He needs just a 10-15% increase in strength which is easy to do just to handle the post a little better. He could do that over the Summer. In terms of lateral quickness--I cant agree because of his size. How many 7 footers have quick lateral movement? I think we would take Vucevic in 1 second and hes slow as a mule. I look at Frank and Towns as interchangeable 5-4s

Knicks1969 @ 3/9/2015 11:40 AM
I would like to add a Kaminsky if we draft Russell. We could then bring in a G. Monroe and add some perimeter shooters to complement our front court.

Do you think he is able to operate as a center on defense and be an effective shot-blocker against NBA athletes without getting a ton of fouls? The lateral quickness is more or less significant depending on the position he plays. At center he can probably make do, but if he is a 7ft player guarding quicker NBA 4s, he might have some problems.

His statistics show a guy who has improved each year. Have to think that he is smart enough to work on his body prior to being in the NBA.

I like him on the Knicks given his offensive skills, just wonder how he will deal with NBA speed on the other end.

MS @ 3/9/2015 12:18 PM
So was Adam Morrison and Doug McDermott. The guy has a lot of skills, but we need a sure thing here. More often than not those guys are bust. Dirk and Gasols just don't exist. We can't afford to go wrong again.

When you watch him--he seems to go around guys who are 6-8/6-10 very easy with a dribble or head fake. The guys just skilled and 7 feet tall--he might end up even better in the NBA. I think we get pick 1-2-3 and the possibility of getting Kaminsky as very small as he would have to fall and there would have to be a willing seller. I think the ONLY possibility is we had pick #1 and Philly had pick #3 and we swapped 1 for 3 10 and 35 if Philly gave us assurance they were taking a G.

Knicks1969 @ 3/9/2015 12:27 PM
BRIGGS, Why would you pick Kaminsky if you already had Towns; specifically, given the success Towns and Stein are having together????
Moonangie @ 3/9/2015 12:34 PM
BRIGGS fancies getting us a twin towers...not a bad outcome from the draft, but would clearly depend on our getting #1 overall and having a cooperative partner in Philly...quite a long shot.
fishmike @ 3/9/2015 1:01 PM
Kaminsky = Bargs. Exactly the good things you have seen Bargs do in the triangle the last 5 games or so is exactly what your getting from Frank. That mid range jumper is wet and he will knock it down 30 times in a game if you let him. He has some good post moves but doesnt use them very often or often enough. Best on defense when they dont have to react much, rather just use their length to occupy space.

If Bargs were healthy he would be a very good role player on this team. 15ppg, 6rebs, shoot close to 50%, 30minutes and he will block some shots as well. I think what you get from Frank is what we hoped for in a healthy Bargs.

Not a guy who's going to get his own shot much, but a skilled player and if you give him any space will drain that mid range jumper all day. Much like Kurt Thomas on offense.

Also... he's NOT Bargs, so people will like him

I rather have Bargnani for vet min.

Say we are 1 and Philly is 2

I would swap picks with them if they give us their 2016 1st(top 10 protected from Miami)

They can draft Mudiay or Ok4 and we get Towns and we get to party again next year

Boom

Na... Frank would be a great fit, he really would. Doesnt have to be a star, but he would be a really good player in the system, and give you great production for $2-$3mm a year and he can play right away. Bargs is a retard and reliable more little more than frustration. Notice I said Frank is what we hoped Bargs would be, not is.

Do you realize how many games Barg played the last three years? This dude is always injured. I would not pass on the opportunity to draft a much younger version of himself if not better just to retain him.

Fisher is perhaps the only one in the organization who wants to keep this dude around. For what? Only he knows

I see. I just don't see why we are even discussing kaminsky. It would make sense to start talking about the prospects of drafting him if we wind up with pick 6-10

The 2nd coming of Frank Brickowski - without the post up game.

If you believe in your scouts, and they said Kaminsky will be a star, you do what you can (within reason) to get him. Especially if you can get one of the top 4 players in the draft and Kaminsky. The goal is to fill your team with as much talent as possible. And since we have more than just one hole to fill....On a short championship timeline, thats the goal. I rather have Kaminsky than Bargs. Or maybe we have them both....We suck and we cannot get cute on who we pick up. We have to go for the best deal and get the most talent for the least amount of money. Especially if our scouts don't think OK4 or Russell are franchise players.....then trade them to someone who think they are the next Bill Russel or MJ, because they will give you anything, including established vets with NBA experience and a Kaminsky type pick.

LOL thats not a bad comparison. Frank never played enough minutes but he was a really good player. Big difference is that Kaminsky is a 7 footer(I think Fran was shorter) and a 3 point marksman in a league that is dominated by that shot. While Frank at times looks somewhat weak in the post--he has all the moves. He strengthens his body with a professional trainer and I think hes going to be a great player in the modern NBA. I'm sure a lot of people thought that Vucevic would be a 20-12 player. Frank will be a 20-8-4 player.

The game was a lot different then - Brick & Larry Krystowiak - those guys went to the hoop.

He'll be 15 ppg, 7-8 rebs & his best years will be slightly better than that.

I liked the Brick - he was tough. Loved mixing it up with Rodman. Kaminsky can do worse than have his career.
