I think you look at various stats like this--look at teams like GS the Spurs the Hawks and try to figure out a way to get there. You know what's funny Golden State does not even have a reliable post scorer? You know who scores their most paint points? Curry who is also their smallest player at 6-3. Its built more like the Chicago Bulls. Bogut when he is healthy gives them very nice rim protection and hes also a great team player. Their defense is just very good(best in league) with Green and Bogut in the frontcourt backed by many good athletic defenders on unit 2. They main scoring comes from the backcourt. I think Towns would be a great start for us as he would give a combination of offense and defense. Im not sure about Willie Stein overall play--but his value as a team defender on the right team could be highly valuable.

Any wing or guard we target in free agency must be able to shoot. For years we added wings who can't shoot. This is basketball today. Need shooters to be successful.

Checking through team stats
Noticed Knicks where 14th in the league from Downtown but worst in the league from defending 3 allowing 39% from the field and give up 9 3's a game. Very alarming stuff that deserves number 1 priority this off season.

This you lay on Derek Fischer. He could tell his guards to play way up on their man. We may need an athletic defender we can move in an out of the line up that can disrupt offensive flow.

We are horrible from every spot on the floor not just from 3

I would love to see those #s since Galloway has been playing starter minutes. I think thats improved... but like Guns said, when your last in the league it nots going to be hard to find some pretty ugly stats

There's a stat that says 12-50, but I'm not sure what it stands for. Won Ton & Lo Mein?

It won't matter because fisher has said time and time again, he's not worried about three point shooting, it's the paint he's concerned about. Thats why we lead the league in hacking and wacking, were always out of position and I don't think that changes until fisher wakes the fck up..

Guarding the 3 has always been an issue for us. Some might say we need defensive guards. I'm a defensive guard, so I could understand that logic.....but I would take a different approach.

I think if we had shot blockers at the rim, especially weakside shot blockers.....Then it doesn't matter how althletic the guards are, as long as they have the confidence of the bigs behind them. All you have to do is ride their weak hand, and sit on that crossover back to their dominate hand. Meanwhile, when you are crowding him, and he has a first step on you, the twin towers are back there waiting on him to hit the paint. Crowding him also covers their vision for the pass down low.

So I think the quickest way to reduce that stat is to build a team around twin towers. Towns, Stein, Monroe....The draft and FA's have a few options. Then you buy a second round pick, and select the best defensive guard available. Teach him how to make open set shots, because everybody's shot improves. And WALLA.....We have a team that rebounds, protects the rim, and guards the 3 pt line.

Our guards are always told to help on rebounds....stop penetration. This is why everybody is shooting a high percentage on us from deep....At least one of the main reasons. The other reason is that our guards suck! But thats a cop out answer!
