I'm OK with the tanking at this point(though I'd use the word losing rather than tanking). I don't like the fact that half our cap space this off-season is taken up by the remainders of this sub .200 team.

blkexec wrote:Instead of throwing out childish insults, lets take it back to BRIGGS original question. Whats wrong with the Knicks? Where do I start.....How about:

1. Threads like this that continue to pop up after every Knick loss, even though we are clearly in Full Tank Mode.
2. Dolans pressure to resign Melo, just to save ticket sales.
3. Fans that want the #1 pick, but refuse to look like crap along the way.
4. A Rookie GM mentoring a Rookie Coach who doesn't know how to develop Rookie players.
5. Phils incorrect analysis that this was originally a playoff team.
6. Impatient fans!

Do I trust Phil as a GM.....no. Do I trust Fisher as a coach.....no. Do I trust Dolan will continue to be hands off.....no.

But I do know we have a chance at the number 1 pick next year....Major cap space over the next two years.....A GM that actually won multiple championships.....A GM that will do his best to protect his triangle system and legacy....A coach that players respect who's also a proven leader....We also have one of the best scorers in the NBA, that commands a double team.

Back to BRIGGS selection of OK4 as the number 1 pick....I'm also going back and forth between him and Towns. But I can see great things with OK4 as a PF, next to Monroe, Cousins, Stein, Any Center with a defensive mind set. What I don't like is Melo at the SF position, entering the last few years of his prime. As you get older, you get slower but stronger. I think Melo's best position will be PF until he retires. Plus, a lineup with Melo, OK4 and Monroe is a decent lineup, but it's also very slow with limited fast break opportunities. It's basically a half court team. I don't know if thats good or bad. Take out OK4 and put in Towns, and you just increased your fast break speed.

Towns or Stein are long leg 7 footers who runs like a deer, and protects the rim with passion. Plus they don't need any offensive plays to impact the game. So Melo can continue to be the scoring beast he wants to be, while the bigs can do what bigs do.....rebound, block shots, alley oop fastbreak dunks, ESPN highlight dunks, and defend multiple positions, including pick and rolls where you need bigs with lateral quickness (Towns).

I don't know man, I'm still up in the air, and most of the time, I'm leaning towards Towns, due to our system and Melo, who likes to have the paint all to himself.

---->But I do know we have a chance at the number 1 pick next year. Nope thanks to Dolan and company we put no restriction on the pick--we have no 1 or 2 next year.

Come on Briggs....we have no pick next year.....we all know that....It was a typo.

Yep. If the plan all along has been to tank we would have traded Melo and gotten a better return for Tyson. Instead, Phil accidentally built the worst team in franchise history and now almost has to overpay this Summer to convince anyone to sign here.

This is not about bad defenders, this about a bad game plan night in and night out.

knicks1248--what coach could do materially better than Fischer with this group? You think if Phil himself was coaching wed already be at 50 wins????

I'm not saying that, It's one thing to have bad defenders, it's entirely another story when you have a bad defensive philosophy.

So your telling your bad defenders to playoff of 3 point shooters and protect the paint as if they are quick enough or strong enough to recover in time, or fight through a screen. You can have a all 1st team defense out there, wouldn't matter all that much, we would still be getting torch from the land of 3, because of the system..

It's the same with any coaches defensive philosophy, woodson and MDA believe that switching was the best way to defend, so despite having a few solid defenders like shump, and tyson, we still saw tyson get lit up by opposing guards, and shump getting caught defending a big in the post.

With the three game these days, for all the desire to acquire defensive bigs for the front line, it seems mandatory to have quick guards who can pressure the ball and keep down the three attempts while also preventing excessive penetration. The Knicks have been abused at the guard position and without Tyson there hasn't even been backup defense down low once opposing guards get into the paint.

The Knicks really need an elite wings and guards who play lock down defense as much as defensive big. But I guess the Knicks need everything so nevah mind!

Ask him to look on how good Rangers did after he stepped away and stop getting involved.

actually one of your more accurate statements. Shockingly made without calling someone and azzhole, a coward, a fake person or posting a stupid photo documenting their total lack of logic. Maybe you really are turning over a new leaf. Wow. Good to see an ounce of humility there. Carry on. There is hope for the board yet.

You can put down the pitchfork. You know I exchange on basketball topics all the time without name calling. I'm just as pugnacious as you are and when people come after me I throw back. I went out of my way to debate Nix on hoops without any name calling so let's have the sense to separate between what is actually a tussle and recognize who initiates what. I do not seek out new people to attack and most people here understand that. Have a nice day

The 19 3-pointers the Warriors registered were the most the Knicks had ever allowed in a game — the final indignity to Derek Fisher’s poor 3-point defense.

You can have a all ist team defense out there, wouldn't matter all that much, we would still be getting torch from the land of 3, because of the system..

It's the same with any coaches defensive philosophy, woodson and MDA believe that switching was the best way to defend, so despite having a few solid defenders like shump, and tyson, we still saw tyson get lit up by opposing guards.

Dude there are very few elite wing defenders in the NBA, everybody is spreading the offense and moving the ball, unless you have the Road Runner on your squad, you better have an elite master plan, It's not about individual talent. Obviously that will help some, but overall, coaches and scouts will eat right through that silly ass defensive plan fisher has.

the question is though.. you only been here for 8 months and it seems like you've had plenty of people calling you out here. when guys like enyspree, fishmike and blkexec are calling you a troll, its pretty concerning, as theyve been here a long time. maybe you should rethink your posting tact.
