OH is going to get creamed, but you can see how Russell looks against NBA caliber wings. Stanley Johnson is a top 5 on a lot of draft boards, and I have Arizona as the team to knock off KY
Good to know, glad Russell will be tested.
it will be interesting. They ran 2 guys at him everytime he touched the ball. He didn't get a lot of assists but the guy is so crafty and smooth. Rather than pass he would draw the doubles further and further out egging them on then swing the ball for an open look. If he teammates were better they would have won that game by 15 and Russell would have had ZERO assists, but facilitated every play. Im pretty enamored. Plus he's a lefty like me. 1-20. More creative. Outside the box. He's a team first guy also. Good with being the leader but knows its 5-5. This is who I want to build my future around
Its always about you isn't it...smh

Towns is not even close to being a finish product...These other guys are already close to their ceiling.....Just my own personal opinion.
It's a tough decision. When I watch Russell I can't believe how easy his stroke is and how good he is at passing. He would be awesome in the Triangle IMO. Then again when you look at a kid like Towns you can easily see how he would immediately impact your teams interior D and for years to come. Plus Towns is a skilled offensive player who should only get better. That could put him on an elite level being effective on both ends. OK4 is that rare dominant big in the post who will open up the perimeter for all of your wings. He's like a huge planet that sucks in defenders.

Yup. I want OK4 or Towns

He plays effortlessly
Ball moves much better with Russell at the point, also has better looks.
That kid is nice....he just made some excellent passes in the match today that proved to me that he has the court vision and ball handling abilities to play the Pippen role
Russell told his teammate to stay on York, but he didnt listen, and York drained a wide open 3.

yea.. he's not getting any shots in this game.. AZ doing a great job on him and he's still leading and trying to do other things. Sigh.. a fella can dream
This is the worst i've ever seen Russell shoot. This game is not one for the highlight reels. He still makes some sweet passes tho.
BTW I have AZ as the team to knock out KY, I think they are that good. Most athletic CBB team I can remember. That doesn't mean much lol but they seem like a nightmare matchup

He had some nice takes to the rim but he couldn't get enough elevation. Russell looks like he needs to go to IMG or somewhere like that and work on his hops.

Athleticism has always been my concern with him. It's one thing to be able to shoot, but the star guards have the ability to get there shots off one on one anytime they want. I still can't figure out if Russell is a Chris Mullin type who is crafty enough to get his shot off against superior athletes, a Brandon Roy type who is just deceptively athletic enough to keep defenders off balance or (worst case) an Evan Turner type who is too average an athlete to be an impact player.

No its Brandon Roy... good comparison. Its not speed, its quickness. He only needs a little space to beat you and he's got great quickness.

I believe some real work with a strength and conditiong coach would do wonders for him. Russell doesn't have an NBA ready build yet. Ive seen him show some athleticism on both sides of the ball, but his somewhat slight build is working against him. He might not ever be Westbrook or Irving quick, but Mark Jackson proved that you dont need blazing speed to get by defenders, and he will be faster than Jax IMO.

They have a pretty tall front court

Hes Chris Mullin with better handles and passing skills....

True, but an extra gear may have been the difference between Jackson being merely good or a Hall of Famer like Jason Kidd.

Russell is just a baby Physically. He can and should get a lot stronger with a real conditioning program and some time to mature. Seems to me that OK4 is still the most NBA ready guy. His body is so big and strong already. Once he gets with a trainer he'll be even more of a Beast.

Don't you think Jackson will make the HOF? He's second in assists. Anyway, I see a player with enough gears to blow by defenders at will because he has such a quick first step. Getting in better shape should help him finish against better competition.
He is definitely having a tough time shooting the ball tonight. But, I can assure you that he is always very efficient at making shots.
