As I said previously, I have little faith that this Knicks team will be good in the future. You might come to this conclusion from a number of indicators. You could look at their 14-53 record this season, tied for worst in the league. You could look at Phil Jackson’s tenure and there’s plenty of red flags there. The botching of the Steve Kerr hiring. The questionable hiring of Derek Fisher. The weird statements/tweets. The paltry returns on traded players. You could look at their eschewing of advanced statistics, as ESPN rated them 121 out of 122 professional franchises in using any reasonable numerical evidence to help assist with making decisions in a billion dollar field.

But if this report is true, it would indicate that there is no hope that this Knicks front office has any clue on how to build a winning NBA team.

"[Andrea Bargnani’s] two injury-filled, unproductive seasons with the Knicks will end next month but there is already a sense that team president Phil Jackson, encouraged by Bargnani’s play over the past 20 games, will strongly consider re-signing the free agent forward… for the right price, of course."

And folks that is the canary in the coal mine.

Remember for the Knicks to have any hope the likeliest scenario is for them to pick the best pro in the NBA draft, AND grab a top notch free agent this summer, AND make sure that the draft pick, the free agent and Carmelo Anthony complement each other on the court, AND pick up the right complementary players to fill out the rest of the roster. This is the corner they’ve painted themselves into by re-signing Anthony to a huge contract, giving him a no-trade clause, and giving away future first round picks.

And for the above scenario to come true, the Knicks need someone at the helm that understands how to evaluate NBA talent. If Phil Jackson resigns Andrea Bargnani to do anything more than shoot tshirts out of a cannon, he proves that he is not qualified to run this team.

You can choose to live in the darkness of negativity, hating everything about the knicks, from ownership, GM, Coach, Players.....(Similar to any current Nets fan, or a fan of any team in our division) while living and breathing negative thoughts all day long. Destroying anything positive when it comes to the knicks. I have no problem if somebody wants to live their life that way. Any human being can see bad just like they can see good. Some only choose to talk about the bad.....I get it.

What I don't understand is why put yourself (any fan that really hates their team) through this torture? Why live and breath so much negative pain? Why login and listen to all the positive threads if it hurts to even smile at any glimmer of hope? I would've moved on a long time ago, probably around the time they traded Ewing, because the knicks have been bad for a very long time, even when they were good in the 90's. I'm asking a serious question, not trying to be a smart azz...This is not directed at Splat.....This is for any fan that hates the knicks. Or any fan that thinks the knicks will never do anything right, under Dolan and now Phil or Melo. Because once Phil and Melo leaves, they will get replaced by somebody similar. Thats how Dolan does business. Thats his track record.

There are other teams in the NBA in a much better position, with better owners, GMs, Coach, and players. Personally, if I wasn't born and raised a Knick....If I didn't breath orange and blue....I would've left a long time ago. I have childhood friends that are laker fans, that live in Harlem and I have no bad feeling towards them. They have teased me for years, but I'm a different dude.

I put too much into this team to turn back now. One thing I always tell them, is stay true to your team, which is what I try to do....Battling against all the other non knick fans for years.....To be honest, it's a little discouraging to hear some knick fans sound just like all the non knick fans.....I'm like damn, I have to battle these dudes all the time, then sign on to a knick site and have the same exact battles with knick fans.....

It's like having a wife that everybody calls ugly.....But you continue to tell them and yourself, all about her pretty side. And how she's pretty on the inside as well. Or maybe some just get a divorce every 5 years.

No, I titled the thread saying he "GETS IT" for a reason, because it was interesting to see someone with a platform espousing a viewpoint identical to mine. Nobody is gushing. I am affirming its realism though. You could keep writing about us or you could actually just deal with the article's points.

What exactly was the point of the blog? That Hindsight is 20/20? That we should b1tch and moan about a "rumor" that was reported last week that may or may not happen?
