It's not about "earning" a bench spot. He's a prospect and you want to see signs of development. He's actually starting to adjust and get better. We also don't see him in practice so it's possible that the Knicks see growth already and that makes it worth taking a further look. He's a low cost high reward prospect. He's only 22 and he does have talent. Given our need to find talent wherever we can it's a good thing to have him on the team and take a look to see if he's worth investing in further.

no idea what they are seeing and what they are thinking ... just saying that there is no way for us to believe at this point that this guy belongs

If I were a betting man :-) ... I would say that this guy has a 5-10% chance at best at making this team.

You do realize that he's barely played any NBA basketball and hasn't been developed up to this point. This is the most attention he's been paid and the most playing time he's received. He's got loads of talent that he hasn't yet been able to show. You have to remember that he's learning a new system and teammates in addition to making the biggest jump in competition to play in the NBA. What do you think he's supposed to look like at this point in his development? The raw skills and talent is there! You have to be able to project a little bit in order to imagine what he'll be like down the line.

I am not judging him ... I have no idea what he will be ... nobody really does at this point.

Do you think that he will make this team? I sure hope so since this thread is already 9 pages long ... LOL

I am simple making an easy prediction that this guy will not make this team.

TPercy @ 4/3/2015 7:47 PM
Offensively, this guy and Shved are the only "talented" guards we have.

I don't see why Ledo shouldn't be on our SL team and have a chance to come to camp next year. If he doesn't make the team he can still be kept on the D League team and developed further.

Red @ 4/3/2015 9:10 PM
Close to a double/double at this point....
TPercy @ 4/3/2015 9:13 PM
Watched my second full game of him,
Ledo 21 pts on 12 shots and has 9 rebs and 3 assists.
He knows how to play the game. The whole game was only layups and 3s. Very talented this kid.
Red @ 4/3/2015 9:13 PM
That was more like it. +9. One of only 2 Knicks on the + side. 21 points, 9 boards. 3 assists.
TPercy @ 4/3/2015 9:14 PM
If thjr is on this team next year and Ledo isn't then I'm fully convinced that Phil has 0 clue what he is doing.

I'm at a loss to explain to my fellow forum members about Propects like Ledo anymore. Some of us understand the process of developing young talent and it seems others are too quick to make a judgment on kids and can't see the raw talent unless they're producing right away. It like they don't seem to understand that if Ledo was already ballin out and fully developed we'd never have had a chance to get him!!! This is why you have to have an eye for talent and take a chance on guys. You can see with some of the young players we have that they're showing signs of developing but obviously they need more time. Well this team should be investing in developing these kids given our lack of talent from the D League up thru the pro team.

Just typical Knick fan impatience and self hate. The Kid can't be any good cuz you know... the Knicks have him. We have to stop doing that and look at things based on their own merits. Each situation is different. They pissed on Shved before seeing him play. Galloway and Early have been doubted. We need more patience when it comes to young players on this team. Teams like the Spurs don't panic. They stick with their initial scouting on players and trust that they were right. It's worked for them more often than not being patient. Now for once the Knicks are starting to do the same thing with Prospects. They won't all work out but if you use sound judgment you should find some success in developing guys.

Yep. He missed the only year of college he had. Scouts watched him at practice. Went in the second round to a team where he was not going to crack the lineup. I don't know what playing D League home games and spending D League away games sitting at the end of the Dallas bench does in terms of real development, but it can't be ideal. And he was a yoyo his whole time there anyway, with only those few minutes played for Dallas. He could have stayed a year at Providence and put himself in the first round and created a different trajectory. Now he's hanging by a thread really. But I'm glad we're the ones giving him this look. And chance. It has been a long thread, but it's interesting to look at possible futures. Been a long year after all:-)

I think it's been interesting to watch this kid in a very tough situation start to get it going. I liked his talent and that's why I started the thread. I did the same for Shved who I liked before he was a Knick. Sometimes we have to stop hating on our own team and be willing to take an unbiased look at the actual talents our young prospects may have. Early was getting beat up by some fans too. They didn't show any sense of understanding that the kid had surgery this season and that may have stunted his development. We're gonna need these kids to develop and hopefully some of them become real contributors going forward. Can't wait to see how Thanasis handles playing in the NBA next year. I'm very curious to see if this Labeyrie kid can play.

What I like about Shved, Ledo & Galloway is that they can fill up the box score with rebounds and assists- makes a nice change from Tim Jr.

Not to mention they're each reliable for something.
BigRedDog @ 4/3/2015 10:33 PM
Im not saying this guy will be a star but he definitely has the talent to make the NBA. It really is up to Ledo, how much he wants it and how much he wants to bust his ass. If he dedicates himself to basketball I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the Knicks next year. He had one move tonight against Beal that was absolutely crazy.

EXCELLENT POINT! This is something that I think gets missed when people talk about these guys. It's more than just scoring. Not to mention that Shved raises the production of the team when he's on the floor. Everyone shoots better when he's on the floor. I can see some good overall qualities in these guys. Early has some of that kind of all around game too. The only one who is just scoring and not providing enough of anything else is THJ. He's got to step it up.

LOL, that comment still cracks me up. love how people can just assume that because the kid was a bit winded. people on this forum love to preach patience but almost NEVER actually practice it.

If Ledo was picked up by another club and had the nigh he had tonight we'd never hear the end of it. "Why didn't the Knicks pick him up?" If the Knicks get a kid like this, he must be a fat bum cuz you know... It's The Knicks.

We've got to show some patience with these kids. As much as people complain about the Knicks and young players, we actually have quite a few young prospects.

we have more young players now than we've had in a real long time.. it's a good thing. years like this year, won't be tolerated for very long though.
