I would like to see a 40-45 win team next year and then with the additional cap space next summer, make the NEXT move what puts the team at a Championship contending level because of the signing and this years #1 becoming a force. Melo should be a 2nd fiddle by then.

I really hope PJax does not trade this years pick for Durant. Really.

You do know that this talk of Durant for the first pick talk is all in Brigg's head right??

I hope so!

The fact is that with some of NY's past moves, it actually has some validity.

is vampirize a real word?

Man, this is horrible news. I really have been looking forward to finally drafting a franchise player.
Bonn1997 @ 3/23/2015 10:17 AM
We still will be drafting the player. We'll just be doing it for OKC!

I thought that all the stuff in briggs' head comes true?

There is no news- BRIGGS is just feeling anxious.

It not news. Grantland has a piece where he see's (human nature) that Both feel that OKC is lucky to have them and they are bigger than OKC.
Its an opinion that you pick a fight before you break up.
Briggs has thoughts about it and he will start a thread at a whim to air it.
Not much differnt than many of us. Just becuase the words exist does not mean it is "news".
Briggs is reacting to the opinion, no rumors btw. Anyone can start a rumor if there opinion is taken as if knowledge exists.
It seems as if either Durant and Westbrook can't stand each other and one has to go. Westbrook is a fashionista so NY is logical. He is from LA so its logical to also state lakes might want him.
OKC had a nice run but its time to turn over the assets to keep it contending. Its a one horse town and with the freshness of getting a team, then its rise to contention now wearing off the team has to stay relevant and shedding assets for new ones is one way.
Philly can offer more BTW.

Briggs is right to be worried as historically getting Durant would be a starphuckedly typical Knick move. We should be lucky his foot is problematic NOW instead of later!! KD would want a new contract as would any team getting him. One would logically think Knicks would understand nature of the injury. That or it us media/fans that don't.

When a BMW cannot be reparied via "Lemon Laws" the cars are repaired and offered for sale at a great discount. It is disclosed but very temepting to pick up a sweet model car for far less than market value.
Knicks seems to pay retail for Lemon law cars.

Phil will save us from Dolan. We're keeping our pick and it will be KAT. If OKC wants a trade, they will look elsewhere (LA or Philly) where there is much more to gain.

I would LOVE to see us trade Melo to the Lakers for their pick, Lin and filler (or to Chitown for Butler/Mirotic). I am ready for a total rebuild and some exciting yoot-hoops at the Garden. I believe in Phil. Our starphuck days are in the past (and possibly the mid-term future, once we have a legit yoot-core to contend with).

Melo's chip window does not mesh with our rebuild, so he will probably be looking to move to another big market (LA or Chitown) where he has a chance to contend in the next 2-3 years.

BRIGGS will need a bottle of whiskey in hand on draft day. He'll be fine, just needs to take a step back from the ledge.

BRIGGS @ 3/23/2015 1:00 PM
I'm just putting out a warning shot for the "name starving" Knicks team. We have done this in the past--we have spent a lot of money on broken down goods and weve traded away incredible picks too justify getting better "faster"

When Alan Hahn talks-hes a pure paid stooge directly from the Knicks. Hes a "mouthpiece" he doesnt make up "exploring trading the pick or if Durant is there you MUST trade the pick" without being told too.

This is a bad injury for a 7 foot basketball player. Same injury Bill Walton and Yao Ming had. Of all sports basketball and Jones fracture = bad news. The worst news is they had two surgeries and they shut him down again Since he being compensated a full year of may be needed.

Well then luckily Durant is only 6'9-6'10

We took Amare for 100mm gambling the doctors would be wrong--well they were not wrong and that is 10000% Dolan. No Donnie Walsh MDA BS Dolan. So the precedent is there to take a name player injured and give up a LOT for it. Weve done it running for 15 years!!

I agree. I think if you are able to draft a player you KNOW is a stud, you do it and see that process through. But you don't draft a guy just to draft him. Remember, we can only hope our draft pick blossoms into something near the level of Durant (which is unlikely.) If that happens that would be sensational. But in this case, i think if we land a top 3 pick, there is probably enough talent to justify not trading it for a player like Durant. Part of that is the reason that you will have that 20 mil in cap space to use for Love/Monroe/Milsap/Kanter etc in addition to developing a future star. But there must be an extremely high level of confidence that drafted player will indeed be a superstar.

Thats exactly what has me worried. I guess not much can be done, just gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope that Phil is going to make us proud and remove the curse of Ewing by drafting an all-star and keeping him !

NumberTwoPencil @ 3/24/2015 7:39 AM
I'm not sure I'd blink at this point if Dolan traded everything for Durant and Durant ended up never playing a game. Would I be surprised? No. Would you? I don't think so. Sigh. I used to think: Well, it's for the best. My children will learn how to deal with disappointment in their lives and, hey, by the time they are in college, the Knicks will be winning again. Now that the kids are off at college, I find myself thinking: Okay, fine, maybe my grandchildren will see the Knicks win.

I think the top 3 in this draft are EXACTLY the sort you don't trade away. They are building blocks on rookie deals. If Melo has a problem with it, he can GTFO. Who gives a damn about his feelings...we want to play ECF and Championship hoops, not cater to an ego.
