Knicks · OKC will vampirize Knicks for first pick (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 3/22/2015 8:35 PM
Sam Presti is waiting to jam Kevin Duarnt down our throat for Okafor or Towns. He understands what a Jones fracture is Dolan understands what a Gin and Tonic is. He knoiws the Knicks go for names names that are ven injured Amare Mcdyess etc... and will pay big for the name. He knows after the second attempt to fix the Jones fracture that KD is fcked and he no matter is words wont go down that road even for KD. I know from listening to many NY writers that they know little about basketball--that they will endorse this--sell it to the fans no matter how stupid the move would actually be. NY Sports fan always love the big name"yeah we got KD man" but how many fans really know winning basketball" very few because they keep filling up MSG. Some of the offseason moves are obvious--in fact they are no brainers--but really do I have confidene that anyone from the Knicks organization of even 90% of the fans themselves really get it??? Nope. Get ready for KD and is fcked up foot in NY and the sckers who buy it.
CrushAlot @ 3/22/2015 8:38 PM
Phil Jackson isn't Scott Layden. Lets hope there is no chance that something like that happens.

The Knicks have nothing to offer for Durant other than Melo AND our 1st rounder. i hope you dont seriously think Durant is done.
stopstandthere @ 3/22/2015 9:08 PM
It is hard to find a reason for OKC to do it. They WIN NOW.
STATMELO @ 3/22/2015 9:17 PM
KD isn't on the market.

Also, I'm pretty sure KD will rebound just fine from this injury...

I hope for kd he's not but right now he's in trouble. Please do some homework on multiple failed Jones fracture surgeries and get back to me.

BRIGGS, you are one of my favorite dudes on this board; I pray to God we don't do the freaking Durant trade. If we do, I will go crazy. If we are going to trade that pick, it better be for Westbrook and multiple first round picks. We have a lot invested in Carmelo with his bad knees, we don't need to put money on Durant with his bad foot
TPercy @ 3/22/2015 10:01 PM
You need to hop off the good gas, there is no way this is happening.
Knixkik @ 3/22/2015 10:19 PM
For some reason there is this thought around here that every injury is career threatening/hindering. It is something I don't think I will ever understand.
stopstandthere @ 3/22/2015 10:19 PM
fantasy remains fantasy ok?

This is a bad injury for a 7 foot basketball player. Same injury Bill Walton and Yao Ming had. Of all sports basketball and Jones fracture = bad news. The worst news is they had two surgeries and they shut him down again Since he being compensated a full year of may be needed.

A more accurate title would be: "I am worried that OKC will vampires Knicks for first pick". You're scaring yourself, that's fine we all do it, but it doesn't make it more likely to happen.

1. 250 combinations, 25.0% chance
2. 199 combinations, 19.9% chance
3. 156 combinations, 15.6% chance
4. 104 combinations, 10.4% chance
5. 103 combinations, 10.3% chance

There's no guarantee that the NY Knicks will win the draft lottery. You treat it as an absolute.

OKC will not trade Durant while he is currently injured. It just doesn't happen.

OKC doesn't need to make that decision today. They have time to defer that decision. If you add in a possible lockout, that could even extend the timetable further.

There are 30 other NBA franchises with whom Durant can be traded to, if the OKC decides to trade him.

Based on his desire or lack of desire to sign an extension with said new team, Durant can essentially control where he goes and create an artificial limiter on how much the other team gets gutted in a trade.

Trading Durant would actually change the valuation of the entire OKC Thunder franchise. It wouldn't be done lightly and honestly the franchise would need a rock solid return in terms of a marketable player. (Okafor and Towns don't count here, not at this point)

One thing I don't understand about the lottery odds is: once the first pick is out of the way, do we then have a 19.9% of getting the second pick, or do the odds increase from what they were at the outset?

For BRIGGs nightmare scenario to happen we need:

1) to win the lottery (odds are against it- we'll probably get the 4th pick)
2) KD's foot injury to be chronic
3) NY to overlook the obvious injury issue
3) OKC to decide they are going to trade him
4) OKC to decide they are going to trade him to us

That's a lot of improbables (apart from 3)

stopstandthere @ 3/23/2015 3:59 AM
Stop trading away our pick PLEASE.

Triple Threat sounds like you would trade this year number 1 and two more for Durant(but I never can understand exactly the point you are making???). If K Durant was healthy and he wanted to come here during FA in 2016 I would take him if we traded Melo first.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 3/23/2015 9:15 AM
I am in the camp of building a team with the first pick this year and getting a top FA and a few others solid players for a good contracts.

I would like to see a 40-45 win team next year and then with the additional cap space next summer, make the NEXT move what puts the team at a Championship contending level because of the signing and this years #1 becoming a force. Melo should be a 2nd fiddle by then.

I really hope PJax does not trade this years pick for Durant. Really.

You do know that this talk of Durant for the first pick is all in Brigg's head right??

Bonn1997 @ 3/23/2015 9:24 AM
Rumor is that we might trade the pick for Ibaka

I hope so!

The fact is that with some of NY's past moves, it actually has some validity.
