for Thompson Ben Mclemore and their #6/7 pick in the draft. That would give Sacramento their big 3. Its a nice part of the country and Melo would be much closer to a winning situation than he has in any such way here.
Whose the coach of the Kings?
Doesn't Melo have to consent.
Yeah George Karl is not taking Melo back.
What about Melo to the Lakers for their draft pick?

It gives them a big 3 with Gay Cousins and Melo--Id have to assume he would be wiling to consent to a much better situation with nice weather. We just cant put anything viable together with this player. With the increase of cap--I think the deal is appealing to Sacramento as long as CA comes out as healthy. We have to many holes and ? to not just start over.

$50M in cap space and two top 7 picks? That's a rebuild.

Thats all fussy talk with Karl--he also said Melo has a chance to be a title winner in NY. Sacramento also needs a way to improve. We dont have anything near in place that Sacramento does--including a vet coach. With Cousins Gay and Melo--they could fill in the rest much easier. We have 0 players that compare to those two.
Lakers, Miami, Detroit, Milwaukee, Charlotte, New Orleans, Phoenix, Houston, Portland , philly, Boston, Toronto, indiana, Spurs, clippers, okc, Minnesota.
Not Memphis they traded another zero sum player in Rudy Gay

Gay and Melo essentially play the same position. Cousins demands the ball a lot. I don't think that's a good fit even basketball-wise.
Plus, Melo has to agree to a trade, too. I just don't see them wanting to get back together. Melo wants to be a media/business mogul in NY. You'd have to trade him to Brooklyn or LA or maybe Chicago.
During the first half of the TNT broadcast, Karl reiterated statements he had made to the media earlier in the week, saying of Melo: “Defensive focus, his demand of himself, is what frustrated us more than anything.”Very shortly after that, Anthony tweeted: “are u serious. Some people never (cease) to amaze me. Unbelievable.” Then Melo followed that with “WHEN THE GRASS IS CUT THE SNAKES WILL SHOW.” (Anthony did not return a text when asked about the tweets.)

We might take back Jordan Hill or Nick Young.. so the Lakers could sign Rondo and a big. But I think there could be some traction there.
Im pretty sure if Sather could fire Torts Phil can trade Melo
Im sure you'll find some other quotes from Karl about Melo that might not be so wonderful.
I do like the idea of trading Melo for assets but Phil need to try to get two more pieces thru the draft and free agency. If not, then perhaps Melo would agree (See my post about "Melo and the cultural revolution) were I outline a Melo Trade scenario).
Melo's trade value will be determined by his knee.
Bottom line - if Melo gets traded, it's going to be his people at CAA in the driver's seat, because our organization is terrible and has no leadership. How many times has it been reported that no one calls the Knicks about trades because they don't even know who to call in the organization. The organization is a mess and it starts at the top with Dolan.
Dolan won't want to let go of Melo, because that's his signature move (in his warped mind) as owner of the Knicks - when he jumped in and threw Donnie Walsh's credibility out the window and gave up half the team for Melo. Walsh retired, Melo got about 200M dolan bux over two contracts, the Knicks got pasted in the first round a few times and the rest is history.

Do you still think this way with the Hiring of PHil Jax?
I would love to trade Melo to Brooklyn. Billy King would give us 5 future first round picks

My first misgivings about Phil were when I realized they backed out of the Kyle Lowry trade because the Phil negotiations were starting. My second was trading Tyson. I understood trading JR and Shump, but didn't like it.
Basically, how he handles this draft and this summer's FA will determine how I think of him long-term. Can he hit a few home runs? Sure. I would really truly love for that to happen. I want to watch a competitive team. I am just very worried based on what I've seen from Phil and what I KNOW from Dolan (and also what I know from Melo's input into trades/roster moves so far).
I'm worried. Phil can have a great summer. He can also have a more traditional Dolan Knicks summer where we wind up with no lotto pick, Kevin Love and Rondo. (I mean, don't get me wrong, that'd be a fun squad and I'd tune in, but it's just stupid asset and cap management and starchasing and all the rest)
Do you make this suggestion realizing there is know way in hell marshmelo would ever go there?
Are you gonna talk him into understanding that is is really a nice part of the country?
You're a crazy man, BRIGGS. Bless you!

Next year is his 13th in the league & now he has a bum knee.
Any team that trades for him is as stupid as the Knicks have been for a decade & a half.

Seriously - look at how the Lakers have been run by the young Buss since Dr. Buss died. He's just as bad or worse than Dolan. Lost Dwight for nothing after giving up a lot to get him, gave away two draft picks for Steve Nash who almost never played... terrible management in LAL right now.

Sacramento is the one team where you can't put anything above/below them to do. They just aren't very predictable.
Vivek Ranadive is an absolute gambler in that regard. Would he make a trade for Melo? I'd say Yes.
Would McLemore and a first round, 2nd tier lottery pick be enough? Maybe
Would Melo waive his No Trade Clause to go to Sacramento? No, I can't see it. It would take something like a major divorce and scandal for it to happen.
I do believe that if Ranadive could sit down with Melo, he could explain to him how anyone can be marketed anywhere, I'm just not sure Melo would even understand that. The other issue is no matter what kind of major marketing strategy you have to try to "brand" yourself, the general public will not tend to embrace a guy who hasn't won a championship and on top of that, a guy who seems like a mercenary.
Analysts panned both the Rudy Gay and Darren Collision moves and yet both weren't the giant sinkholes as predicted.
Ranadive might be trying to model what the Cincy Bengals did a decade ago, which is become a haven for wayward talent.
Tyler Perry isn't making his sub standard Madea ready for cable all black cast movies in Sacto though. Melo would literally need to be divorced for this to happen.
Its a good high quality trade for both teams. I think that makes Sacramento on par with many teams talent wise--the harder work is done there.
The Knicks acquire a @G that has the ability in year 3 to rise to a 15-17 point SG and 2 top 7 picks in which the experts are calling the best draft since Carmelo was drafted AND an additional 8-10mm in cap space for this year.
That would give us a starting 2 G 40mm in cash to spend and 2 top 7 picks. Its better for both teams. It would give Phil Jackson a chance to truly mold a team the way he wanted to.
Melo is owed a hundred mil and just had a serious knee surgery. Would you give up a top lottery pick to get him? Would you even sign him as an FA to a hundred mil for yrs 13 to 16 right now if he was an FA (forget having to also give up a high lottery pick)? The same reason we'd love to do this trade is why the other team wouldn't do it.
