Knicks · You are all sleeping on Kaminsky and Decker (page 3)

He will face much better defense / team defenses in the NBA.
Do you think those guys are already good enough to be NBA all defenders? SMH
I think guys like Towns and Stein are already good great defenders. Its to bad Willie Stein is such a sieve on the offense or he would be another choice up top. He wont see more size length that what he saw vs Kentucky for the most part. Guys like Gobert--well thats a different story.
Dekker is a good late 1st who will do very well on an already contending team.

I ended up wagering on Duke to win so I made a little cash... still would've made more if Wisconsin won but oh well.

Stein is a very good defender. Towns has a ways to go.
Do you think that Stein is good enough / experienced enough to be a top defender in the NBA? No way.

Yes I do--which makes his porous offense unfortunate. Towns is a good defensive player--what are you talking about? He bodies too much but overall he gives great effort and plays a solid brand of defense.

You seem to think that if you are a great defender in college then as soon as you get to the NBA, you will be just as good. It does not work that way.
You compare the NBA and College games all too often as if there is no difference and it is very different.
There is so much to learn on defense in the NBA playing against competition that is 500 times as good and against players who have very savvy moves.
When I say towns has a ways to go, I am saying that at this point he will get abused in the NBA.
BRIGGS wrote:What position does Decker play? Hes something between a 3-4 but doesnt have a good consistent jumpshot. Hes a low % 3 points shooter and doesnt share the ball very much.
I see him as a taller Chandler Parsons... so I'd try to use him in a very similar way

Hahahaha that's ridiculous. He's gonna see men in the NBA with man bodies instead of these kids he's seeing in college. Big difference in the big men in the NBA compared to these kids in college that haven't even grown into men yet.

Anthony Davis is still bone skinny and 22 years old. Does that affect him? These guys are bigger than A Davis--especially Towns. You think because Ok4 is 19 his 275 pounds is somehow going to be a weak 275?

Chandler Parsons is a way better shooter and actually taller. I thought that kid Wiltjer looked somewhat similar to Parsons. Decker=Brian Quinnett

wow dude! sometimes you are so way off.
Its not about the damn size its about being talented and having that talent translate to the NBA.
You can have small wonders and big losers.
Could stein be rookie defensive guru? Sure but it is EXTREMELY unprobable.
It takes usually takes time and the right situation. There are so many variables that you are discounting and make so many black and white comparisons.
Then when Stein gets in the league and plays so so defense, are we gonna then blame the system or injury?
You look at a college players and say "I know that this guy is gonna be X", yet any good GM will tell you that the draft is for the most part a crap shoot.
You seem like a good guy but I don't get your logic at all. And all the bravo absolution's???

Stein should be good on the D right away. BUt Ill admit freely that there is some bust factor with Stein.

you think that there is a bust factor because of his lack of offense.
I think he very well may struggle on defense against NBA bigs and all their advanced moves.
Can he end up being ADavis (type) good defensively in year 2? Sure but how freakin unlikely is that?
Look how many years it took Tyson Chandler to win that cheap DPOY?
Though CWeb was not a defender, I will never forget when Barkley stuck him with 56 points when he came into the league and Barkley was wrapping it up.

You can say what you want--Willie Stein is an NBA defender right now TODAY. Hes going to play in the NBA immediately. That being said I dont like the fact that UK seemed to have to play 5-4 with him on offense against better comp. In my book thats not the type of player I want unless I was getting him on the VET cheap which NO one will get the expense will be there form 9-15. There is a bust factor but he should be able to atleast play as a energy role player off the bench.
