no, he didn't. two games of 27 and 47 (in OT) is not taking off. but the last game he played where he scored only 14 points is not "coming back down to earth." it's an advanced stat dream. when healthy and starting he should be at 16-17 points a game with 4 assists and 5 rebounds. he needs to put together a whole season and perhaps then the shytting on this particular ex-knickerbocker will stop.
The only thing that could make that stop is if we somehow were able to get him on the team again, then it would be shytting on a current knickerbocker
okay so i guess we will have to content ourselves with shytting on gallo from a distance as long as melo is making his 25 million. in the meantime can we throw wilson chandler and mozgov under the bus too, or must it be only gallinari? what make gallinari so special that he gets singled out?
Or maybe you could just stop shitting on Melo at close range, who we don't have to wait to score a whole 16-17 points and get an incredible 5 rebounds. Wilson's not worth the effort, and Moz is playing with a GOAT. Next.
melo's points are scored by volume because he has no conscience and no sense for the game and his teammates.
his rebounds are either bitch defensive rebounds a la david lee or offensive rebounds when following his own shots after getting his shyt stuffed.
volume scorers suffocate teammates and cheap rebounds don't get you wins in the playoffs.
25 million a year is also suffocating, especially when you are breaking down.
Name a scorer who didn't take a ton of shots, that's what the do. Even with a guy like westbrook who can get you a triple double and still lose in the process. Two seasons ago melo was 3rd in MVP voting, and his team won 54 games, dk7th I total understand your gripe with a guy like melo.
25 million is not a lot of money considering Jordan made 30 mill for one season almost 17 yrs ago. Todays max players are no where near the talent they were 20 yrs ago. I think thats what you need to come to grips with.

So, He is a sociopath scorer with verdigo.
His offensive rebounds are motivated by his desire to score (like thats a bad thing).
We don't make the playoffs.
His salary is holding us back.Ok.
let's revisit the subject after the first 20 games of 2015-16, k?
Im more concerned about the last 20 games of the season. I would expect lots of new names and some adjustment for them and rookies. Melo has to get his timing back, and chemistry with new mates, as well as them adjust to him. Thats what rebuilding is about.
So maybe games 21-40 might tell a better story??
Your already connecting your dots to suit your agenda. We get it. You don't like Melo when healthy, you don't like him when he was young, and you don't like him when the team wins. So why would you ever change your mind?
Your also very upset with his money as if its costing you something.

There was no salary cap when Jordan was making $30mil per. Salary cap came after the 99 lock out. We've been dishing out $100mil albatross contracts ever since. H20, Mcdyess, Marbury and now Melo

the triple double was meaningless if the team you play on does not or cannot defend. the thunder lost because they did not defend. atrocious in fact. players like westbrook will never win it all if they don't focus on defending and set that example. he's a truly weird player if you ask me. some see focus, i see hysteria.
nowadays volume scorers are a bit frowned upon, especially if that is all they do, ie they don't share the ball properly or defend at an above average clip. i wonder if there are other volume scorers that also don't share the ball or defend at an above average clip. rudy gay comes to mind-- and he's been traded a couple of times, likely because those teams recognized in rudy gay what i am describing here. yet the knicks are stuck with melo and he cannot be traded.
yes the talent level of max players and the league in fact is lower-- all the more reason to not ask for and accept max money. it's cool. the cap space will alleviate the pain but will likely bring the knicks no closer to being relevant, and i don't see any free agents out there who are going to make a significant difference. maybe you can suggest a couple. the two kids in detroit? both are not really passers/playmakers. both are okay defenders. not difference makers.

knicks don't have any time to waste. if there is culture change taking place the players themselves will want to not only get into the best shape of their careers, including melo, but also ask tat the coaching staff work with them over the summer to get as acquainted as possible with the nuances of the triangle. it is clear that the triangle is over the heads of most nba players so they will have to make up for that with ambition and work, not laziness and conceit. melo is the king of lazy and conceit so someone else is going to have to step in and help him float his boat. that isn't going to be the draft choice so you had better pray to phil's basketball gods that he acquires veteran free agents who clearly exhibit strong leadership, along the lines of kidd, pierce, garnett, kurt thomas, etc. anything less and the knicks will continue their pissing into the wind futility.
long story short: the knicks will reveal what they are by 20 games if the culture change is in full effect. your 21-40 idea presumes there will have been no culture change by the start of the season, doesn't it? if so then why are your standards so low? stockholm syndrome? battered wife syndrome?
i don't like melo's game or melo the person, but i do like winning, and so long as he doesn't get in the way of the knicks' winning and getting back to being relevant, i won't mind.
these are the dots i have connected.

It's just a matter of the talent that complements each other, and fits the system. More importantly, you need guys who want to defend with a passion, not talented guys who think they can win games on that alone.
I don't mind guys like Melo and westbrook taking a bunch of shots, that what they are hired for, but it's that certain possession that they don't recognize passing was a better option, even if they made the shot.
There's a difference between jordan taking byron russell off the dribble for a game clinching shot, and Jordan passing to a wide open kerr for a game clinching 3..
Knowing when to pass is the biggest obstacle for guys like melo, because i have seen him pass just for the sake of passing and getting his team mates involve and it turns out to be a horrible decision.
If you want those guys to be more effective, get a real head strong pg, and put vets around them

they want to run the triangle. that sort of point guard is not an ideal fit. what you need are defenders at that pg position who can hit a corner three. then you need guys between 6'8" and 7 feet to work the mid-post who are excellent passers with good floor vision but who can also roll and finish.
everything else i agree with and only underscores the type of players we need: passers, cutters, defenders, floor vision/bbiq guys.
