Knicks · Russell Westbrook Took 43 Freakin Shots Today! (page 1)

mreinman @ 4/12/2015 9:02 PM
He had 54 points which is great but on 43 shots? Really? Really?

He also had 9 rebounds and 8 assists so all great there but I think this is putrid play and I am kind of sick of Brooks and Westbrook.

Oh ... and by the way, OKC lost by 12.

Westbrook and Durant will not be able to co-exist and one of them will have to go.

Do you think that Durant will be able to stomach this?

Cant fault a player trying to win. BTW he hit damn near half of them. Dont really see the issue other than his threes.
TPercy @ 4/12/2015 9:32 PM
I agree. You can't have two volume scorers one one team.
nyk4ever @ 4/12/2015 9:33 PM
43 shots is crazy, but clearly scott brooks doesnt mind or else he'd sit him. brooks is the worst coach in the league if you ask me - been saying it for years... his plays coming out of timeouts are atrocious and he's had some really head-scratching moves come playoff time, multiple times. i guess what im saying is that westbrook taking 43 shots under brooks watch doesn't really surprise me.

yeah ... I remember how he allowed Durant to get abused by smaller guys and wouldnt post him up ... he is strange

Give Kobe or Harden that many shots and they are getting 80+pts

he had a 56.4% TS with what i am sure will be close to a 38% usage rate and an assist rate somewhere around 30%.

translation: sound and fury signifying nothing. if he is trying to win he is taking a weird route.

gunsnewing @ 4/12/2015 11:37 PM
He should've had 100pts on 43 shots. Goodness gracious I've seen it all now
Vmart @ 4/13/2015 1:12 AM
I said this a little while ago that he is channeling his inner Gilbert Arenas.
tj23 @ 4/13/2015 1:26 AM
Brooks coaches defense though. Their offense is very sloppy and unorganized. A bazillion Iso plays with poor spacing. I think he's a decent coach but a really good one would've gotten that team a ring by now or at least closer to one. Still like him more than any coach we've had in a long ass time. What does this say about fish?

More like what does it say about you and Woody?

turns out he had a 51% usage and a 54% assist rate. looks like the real issue was their defense, which was truly awful:

If he is coaching defense then he is doing a terrible job of it.

this is a clear case of the coach kowtowing to the player. too bad. can't be a healthy and sincere relationship.

a pg the take 43 shots should be shot for losing the game. The shots he misses during the clutch are back breaking shots attempts..

Sorry I dont have any issue with him taking that amount of shots. The only issue is the amount of threes. When he has two starters missing all of their free throws, and two bench players who hit NOTHING from the field, someone has to step up if the team is trying to make the playoffs. I'm actually shocked he had 8 dimes with the eggs his teammates were laying.
TPercy @ 4/13/2015 7:15 PM
It is not just Brooks coaching defense, it is the players. Anthony Morrow is a candidate for WDPOY award if it exsisted. Same with Gary Mcneil and Steve Novak, poor defenders and always losing their man. I don't even have to get started with Kanter.

Their 2-7 when he scores 40, harden is 9-1 when he scores 40. WB forces a lot of shots when he doesn't have to. when you don't have all your guns you have to slow it down, conserve energy and make wiser decisions. He has to know when to slow down, That's why scorers like him won't get a championship until their role players or 3rd options.

you don't have an issue with a PG taking 43 shots?

you have a problem with him taking threes or not hitting more of them?
