I was just thinking that I didn't recognize Rose out of his civvies come play-off time, and there he goes...

Noah is looking old and so does Deng..Thibs ran those dudes into the ground..
markvmc@ 5/4/2015 9:26 PM
Cleveland adds all these Knicks, they get an old-school Knicks performance (you know the kind: get down 15-20, make a run to about 3, 4 points behind, and then run out of time).
CrushAlot@ 5/4/2015 9:27 PM
Big win for the Bulls. Hopefully Rose's shoulder is ok.

Clips beat metrics- how can this be?!
stopstandthere@ 5/5/2015 5:55 AM
Worth to share

you mean they beat a metrics- driven team in houston. guess what: the clips had a couple of advanced stat games from their rotation, to wit:
matt barnes had an 87%TS reddick had a 61.2%TS austin rivers was 61.8%TS griffin had a usage to assist rate ratio of .55:1, essentially orchestrating and facilitating like an elite point guard deandre had a usage to assist rate ratio of .63:1, essentially bill russell/noah/gasol territory for a facilitating center
what you really mean is that metrics beat houston, not that the clips beat metrics.
you're welcome

Ha!
I was only half joking- I genuinely don't get how the Clips have won so much this season. Their roster was put together old school- their bench is basically players who used to be good in the 00s and the coaches son.

Metrics, advanced metrics, whatever, are just a way for teams to evaluate talent in a more in depth manner than was previously afforded by the traditional stats alone. They just go a step or two beyond the traditional stats in scope and thus can sometimes better illustrate the game or allow you to make conclusions more definitively in some cases. Of course, some "things" will and will always remain unquantifiable. But that is neither here nor there as long as you accept it and judge accordingly.
But just because HOU's front office goes heavy on the mathematical/amalystical side doesn't portend that they are unbeatable. Nor does it imply that if they lose that means the analytical heavy approach must be wrong. That's a total straw man argument! Not sure why this gets people so annoyed.

well said.
And, the fact that Houston on metrics gives them an advantage.
In poker, a 5% advantage makes you a millionaire but you can't win every hand with it, just 5% more then you would have.
Dallas believes in metrics and then someone convinced them how old school is still cool and they went out and got Rondo. Brilliant ... old school beat dallas.
holfresh@ 5/5/2015 8:51 PM
Pierce doesn't touch the ball enough in Washington's offense..I think the young players are too concern with calling it their team and the are too concerned about being "leaders"..They don't even know what it means..If you have to tell people you are a leader then you really aren't a leader..
holfresh@ 5/5/2015 9:30 PM
Beal can be a superstar if he works hard..He has all the intangibles..Speed and athletism..
stopstandthere@ 5/5/2015 11:01 PM
No Wall, Wiz can't win.

Memphis brought their tonight..
magicTs@ 5/6/2015 1:11 AM
Superb performance by Memphis.
6 games into Round 2 and 4 road wins.
Can see all 4 series being tied at 1-1 after tomorrow.
holfresh@ 5/6/2015 1:26 AM
Zebo was a beast tonight..Memphis showed you why defense win Championships..Like Tony Allen kept saying, first team all defense..
NumberTwoPencil@ 5/6/2015 1:32 AM
Yeah, Tony Allen was probably more important this evening than Conley and Conley had an awesome game. And, for the first time in a while, Kerr got coached. I think you'll see a much more deliberate GS in the next game and probably more small ball.
And, yo!, Allen was a gif-maker all evening . . . "First team All Defense! First team all Defense!"

I think defense from the guards in the NBA is more important than the interior guys. And think about this--the Knicks have the worst defender in the nBA as their starting PG.
You can work with a rim protecting C and two good guards on D--youre PF just needs to play team defense and score 20+.

Yet you would rather we get David Lee than Danny Green
