Shump is a good role player. We needed more from him.

A guy like Shump won't be appreciated until he gets in a situation where his defense changes the game..That happens in the playoffs..We need defenders and they don't grow on trees..

You look at where his game is now and you realize that he is another guy who did not progress the way you thought he could.

I'll make a case and say he is a guard version of WCS (I'll have to post this elsewhere to annoy the Steinboy Alliance).

We knew about his D when we got him, but thought his offensive game would come around, and that he might even be able to play some PG at times as his game matured. Another guy drafted on potential, although he had shown more on the offensive end and had more responsibility in college than Stein has ever been given.

Don't see how you could pick Shump in the middle of the 1st knowing what you now know about his game.

the difference being that a guard needs his offense to come around.

Tyson, Deandre, Tristan, Camby ... their offenses never came around.

Shump, Moz and LeBron's defense changed Cleveland..They are in games because of his defense..He started the game shutting down Curry in the first quarter..He completely shut down Korver in the ATL series...Do you realize how huge that is??

You can sometimes hide players with limited skills if you have a lot of scorers around them. Jordan has the perfect situation, as both Paul and Blake are great passers who always seem to find Jordan.

You also need the right team and the right system.

Tyson and Jordan have done well with the right PGs and sytems, Camby had moves in the post- I would not say that his offense never came around, Thompson is clueless on the offensive end. If I put these 4 up to the Popovich challenge-Would he want them starting on the Spurs along Duncan?- I would say Camby might be the only one he would really want in his kind of motion offense. (But then I'm making this question up.)

Tried tell everyone that for 4yrs but guys are just too hard headed

Shump was by far our best perimeter defender. Best since what Starks? yet all you heard here was his defense is overrated. Amazing how agendas get out of Waco when you want everyone gone and every knick dragged through the mud to save ONE. You kinda expect this kind of thing from idiot fans but Phil Jackson and the Knicks powers that be? WOW
Nalod @ 6/8/2015 3:27 PM
Im not seeing anything different from him that we did not see here.
He's a common commodity in todays NBA and I doubt he is triangle worthy or willing.
For what ever reason, management has an opinion and he was moved.
yellowboy90 @ 6/9/2015 9:25 PM
I hope Shump is ok. Man it seems like he gets hurt every game
holfresh @ 6/9/2015 9:26 PM
They can't afford to have Shump hurt..
yellowboy90 @ 6/9/2015 9:28 PM
I have a feeling it is going to have a great game and gee goes down 1-2

Always been an issue and it slowed his development.

WaltLongmire @ 6/9/2015 9:35 PM
Thompson is tough on the boards, but totally clueless as a shooter.
yellowboy90 @ 6/9/2015 9:36 PM
Is it me or does Tristan never gets set on screens and it always travels coming off of screens
WaltLongmire @ 6/9/2015 9:46 PM
Looks like good Smith today.
holfresh @ 6/9/2015 9:47 PM
Same left shoulder Shump has had issues with..
WaltLongmire @ 6/9/2015 9:53 PM
How does Green not get a T after he reacted to the foul?
BRIGGS @ 6/9/2015 9:53 PM
Since Curry took that big shot--he hasnt been the same player.

Confidence is a terrible thing to lose for a shooter.

WaltLongmire @ 6/9/2015 10:06 PM
They have to work on more picks to get Curry free. All his looks are rushed.
