Please forgive me for taking the liberty to repost your opening of this thread, but I felt that as usual people start to drag the thread into the dirt and totally miss the initial point of the thread. This was a very good read for a Knicks fan. Melo saying he has Clarity and would be willing to take on a secondary role if the team added better talent is a huge thing. Years of Melo bashing and yet this was a very revealing set of statements from our best player at this time.

Melo has a big part to play in this teams' near future. We need him healthy and I think he can help with Free Agents deciding to come here this summer.

My take on the article was more on the bolded parts about what Vaccarro says about Melo, rather than what Melo says. I found those statements to be rather surprising, coming from one of the main media rags.

Melo actually gives a shit about the city and Knicks basketball. And this sentiment is understood and actually expressed by a Knicks beat writer. Interesting.

No Ewing glowering and stupid guarantees. No Marbles derangement. No McDyess/Stat breakdowns. He's amiable and truthful, not an evil, cancerous money-grubbing loser. After reading years of Melohate in here, it was sort of strange to read things like that.

And by the way Hector, I don't have any effing idea what dap is.

Ian O'Conner actually wrote something along the same lines about Melo a few days ago..He said Melo was honest and the Knicks should put him out in front more often. He said the media actually likes Melo..When was the last time you heard that about a NY Knick.

Just a bunch of self serving nonsense from a MEDIA GUY who would benefit from Carmelo spouting more crap to write about.

Nothing Carmelo will ever say will be of real substance to the people who really like the Knick 'idea'

Well saying we won't draft a 19 yr old PG is of substance and I like the Knicks..

Hector @ 4/17/2015 2:55 PM
No it isn't of substance because if he (Russell) comes in & has a 9 assist year & dishes the ball to
Sir marshmelo, & whatever free agent big man we can get, then he'll think twice.

Melo isn't the decision maker just the orator...Don't shoot the messenger..

He talks too much & say stupid shit when asked.

Shut up & play ball and when you give the PC answers, make sure they aren't too self serving! That's all I ask!

Well I kind of appreciate the honesty and the idea that what he is saying he actually feels..I'm a Yankee fan that hated Derek Jeter interviews..He never said anything...I have no clue what this dude is about..He just says things people want to hear...Folks like that sort of thing..I prefer to know where u are coming from...

i don't where the writer gets the notion that carmelo anthony cares deeply for the city and the knicks. where is there any evidence of that? as to his statement about melo never straying from the truth, we'll always have these nuggets:

"It's up to the organization to say they want to match that ridiculous contract that's out there."
"I kind of forced my way here."
"I want to be a free agent. I think everybody in the NBA dreams to be a free agent at least one time in their career."

Amare was hurt for 4 years...Chandler played when he wanted to..Jeremy Lin was here for half a season in which he got hurt..He played around 25 games for the Knicks, many of which Melo was hurt...I can go on...

Tyson played when he wanted to? He was defensive player of the year and MVP of that 54 win team. He's the anchor of Dallas's team this year and is an NBA champion - arguably the most important player on that Mavs team behind Dirk. He certainly stopped Wade and Bron from getting to the hoop.

You know what happened when the Knicks traded Tyson Chandler? They had their worst season in franchise history and started talking about how they needed to draft a defensive center.

MVP of the 54 win team??????????????????????...First that I have heard that one..Some used to say Kidd..Wow!!!!

Most of the league thought so. That's why he won Defensive Player of the Year.

I have never heard this. Tyson? I know there was a lot of talk about Kidd being mvp of that team but Melo had a phenomenal season. The Knicks finished that season on a 16-2 run and Tyson was injured for all but four games. Melo won player of the month and Kidd was gassed.
