That is quite a reach for Wood and even Frank Kaminski
Pretty high for Robert Upshaw as well considering there are lot of BIGS in this draft class
I do not see Mudiay dropping past Philly and Lakers, though we do not know the order, those are the only 2 teams outside of the Knick's that need a PG, while many other teams already have one already
With that said, Mudiay does have a John Wall/Tyreke Evans type of ceiling, and does have the physical abilities to be an effective defender as well
His shooting is something that could be learned but he does in fact have a lot of talent/physical abilities that I am starting to warm up to
If Mudiay does drop I would love to acquire him along with a G/F like Henzoja or Winslow
I would still have interest in Shabazz and Tony Wroten, if we can buy low for them in a trade, and resigning Shved to a 2.5m to 3.3m 2year deal for further evaluation while giving him the opporutunity to compete for a starting job, depending on what positions we use for our picks/FA/d league callups/possible trades/undrafted talents...
I would love to acquire 2, with Towns/OK4 going 1st/2nd, of any of these talents if we trade down and/or make trades with future draft picks and/or with the possiblity of trading CA to move up with the assets to do so
Assuming Towns/OK4 are 1st/2nd then the guys below could be determined by team needs/draft order
Mudiay/Russell
Mario Henzoja/Justice Winslow
Kristaps Porzingis/Kaminski
For the 2nd round steals, I would love Dakari Johnson, Terry Rozier, Tyler Harvey, along with Marcus Thorton
For mid/late 1st rounders I think Delon Wright would be a steal as well
I see Trey Lyles as a YOUNG JOE SMITH type of talent/glue role player that played with KG as a solid role talent with good size and verastile skills/mid range game/rebounding/defense
This draft class has a LOT OF BIGS from the top of the draft to the 2nd round and some possible undrafted talents to work on....

Wood has unique characteristics that only he and Porzingis have in rd 1 from the 4 position. Upshaw wont be drafted at 14 because he smokes dope but he is around the 14th best just ahead of Stein. One guy I have gone over several time is Martin from LSU and finally moved him up to what I think might be right. Hes not a shotblocker and hes shorter than Wood and Porzinigis but hes very athletic and agile--and he played on a team where he had to split the interior scoring load---hes close with Lyles but I think Martin is more agile than Lyles. I put on the Portland board Id be all over Martin for their PF if he lasts to 23 and I would try to S+T Aldridge Matthews and Affalo and reboot with Leonard Martin Lillard and McCollum as my core. It is possible they could score very well in S+T and I would target teams like the Knicks and their first round pick by using Aldridge and his fifth year a target bait. I think he can be convinced into taking that 5th year in a S+T if he is willing to go to NY. If Im a team with a RFA or even a UFA if I see the Knicks dont get pick 1 or 2 then I might be very willing to offer a guy like Aldridge or Harris to them for that pick. If I was Paul Allen and his management team I wouldnt even call Phil Jackson--Id talk right to Dolan because Dolan can be convinced into a trade like that without question.
2nd round steals--not really this year too many good guards--a good drafting team should find a good player in rd 2 this year.

smoking Dope and smoking Weed *really isn't as bad as you make it sound, which is legal in many STATES already*
not saying that we should draft POT HEADS, of course any addictive behavior and partying life style could be red flagged however, my point is Alchohol could be much worse and is legal
However, additiction will always stay, it gets transferred to other obssessive behaviors that could be positive such as a workout regime
Chris Anderson has done far worse and is a very good role player for many years off the bench, while he had substance abuse, and turned his addition to the basketball courts/tattoos, while having a solid NBA career despite not being a prospect
If NBA talents smoke weed in the off season, I really would have no problem with it just as long as they are able to still train/develop their games

Well smoking dope is going to cost him atleast 2.5mm over 2 years at a minimum---maybe much more and it will give teams serious pause even if they think he is late lottery talent. Its very hard to get involved with an individual with problems like that--it often turns out poorly. But I always like to think the best of people--Id like to think that he can be smart about it--and put that away for when his career is over. There is a certain responsibility we all have in our business years and its one thing to do something once in awhile--another to wake up and go look for your bong pipe or bottle.
CrushAlot wrote:Read somewhere that Orlando really like Porzingis. If that is accurate he probably goes in the 5-7 range.
I dont believe in any of that stuff but its possible. Hes unique--there is no doubt about that.
3 team trade/4 team trade
Knicks loses 2015 1st rounder
gets
Carroll in a sign and trade
Shabazz
Walter Tavaris
Tony Wroten and pick 31
sign Greg Monroe, signingss with MLE and cap space, with 3year deals with player/team options for 3rd Lavoy Allen, Wesley Johnson, or/and Brandon Wright, and resigns Cole Aldrich with early bird rights for FULL MLE to utilize on one player or divided up
Resigns Shved
Call up Thansis/Orlando Sanchez and some D League's
Atlanta lose pick 15,50, Carroll, and Shelvin Mack
gets NYK's pick or Twolves pick
Pekovic
Budinger
Twolves
gets rid of Pekovic, picks 31 and 36, Budinger (expiring)
maybe swap picks with their pick and our pick going to Twolves and Atlanta getting the Twolves pick if we win Twolves pick drops and we get a TOP 2pick
gets pick 15, 50, trade exemptions, and concentrate on development/young guys
Philly loses Wroten *or we use a future 1st rounder instead with Tim Hardaway/Early* and get back Covington/Wroten/and a some 2nd rounders in this draft and next years draft...
gets pick 36 and Shelvin Mack

Right now Im waiting for Frank Kaminsky's physical numbers. If he is 7-0 and around 250 and shows better than expected athleticism--than I think up to pick 3 Im holding right now. Im also interested in Russell's numbers. If I got Schroeder Taveras pick 15 and Shabazz out of it Id seriously think about it. Right now Im interested in a big player for our team. If Frank K really shows well where picking him 3 or 4 makes sense--I might do that instead. Its also important to see if LA drops to 6 and Philly gets that pick because that opens up huge trade down opportunities for the Knicks. Lastly I just hope we win the lottery
Thanks Wron Wron!!

Phil Jackson says he wants players that has the ability to get the rim and he would fit that
I know he is coming off injury, however, that is our chance to buy low with the likely hood on Philly drafting Mudiay and PG's in this draft

I like Kaminsky but Kaminsky over Russell would be a big mistake. Turner at 5 also a mistake in my estimation. Wood, J Martin and Upshaw are good picks you've pointed out before and I like too. Of those Id take Wood highest at ~ 12-14.
The dynamic development of some of the players has shuffled the top of the draft interestingly. I'll take Russell at 1. Towns is close at 2.

2. Towns
3. Okafor

Especially with the chances that Lakers could lose their pick and Philly could get 2 TOP 6 picks along with their other billion picks int he next couple of years
They probably have enough assets to trade for 5 James Harden at the price Harden was traded for and still have more picks
Whether it is by purchasing with the 3m allowed, in a trade, swap, future 1st rounder for multiple picks and early 2nd rounders and/or players etc......
Anyone know how much of that 3m we used this past season?
We might not have anything left after the traded we made for Iman/Pablo *likely Pablo*
but we get another 3m to spend anyway but the pick must be picked for us and traded after
And if we have money left, we could have over 3m to use for purchasing picks, with the same philosophy as it resets every year, I believe the draft is prior to our next 3m available to utilize in trades/purchases

Just to make sure, are you saying "THE PLAN", you know, the one that Phil Jackson made 4 months, 3 days, 2 hours, 3minutes, 8seconds... is falling to pick 17?
Along with Greg Monroe, that is the plan isn't it?
LOL
just joking wit you, love you Briggs...
seriously though 5-6 days away and we actually know who gets what pick so we can better speculate then

Thought I read somewhere recently that T-Rob's an UFA. I don't believe Philly has an exclusivity over him...I could be wrong--anyone know for sure? If he is unrestricted, he'd be one of the reasonably-priced FA big men I'd look to sign of I were Phil. 6'10" 240, supreme athleticism, terrific rebounder, young, hard-nosed, better offensively than he's shown so far in the NBA.. I think if we could get him at a good price, why not? Take the flier...I think it's safe to say he's got much more to offer than Lou Amundson.
