No one can't convince me JR Smith and Shumpert didn't quit on knickerbockers during Dfish first year
KNICKERBOCKERS coach as well as last season 2013-2014.
This is utmost true when many games Carmelo was out injured and during this season #7 being shutdown.
Neither player stepped up their opportunities.
I wont buy any notion that both ex knickerbockers are better due to LBJ and Kyrie being teammates.
Maybe that counts 15-25% however they both was quitters here is reason why both slugs were traded

I said something similar once before... I think James would be more than willing to just play "PG" and rarely look for his shot if the team could win that way.
As for JR, James also commands more respect than Smith game Anthony. Those 2 having played together for a number of years in Denver did not help, IMO.
When Woodson's ISO-ball was at its worst, you got the feeling that certain players felt they had to work for a shot when they got the ball, because otherwise they wouldn't get a chance to score.

Lbj is another level superstar, and no one even Carmelo who isn't as unselfish as lbj , James a league of his sole own
Times and times again against weakest foes when Carmelo was down injured out last yr and the current yr,
When either Smith or Shumpert was on court healthy with no Carmelo neither took lead when Ny played other weak NBA teams
These guys died , their game was horrid and neither wanted no role to step up.
Yep Shumpert had tuff injuries and I am a fan of Iman.
But do not make injuries excuses for these knicks,
They both quit when superstar #7 was out and team needed help to beat weak east,
Never happened .. so don't spurt the spiel regarding glory on both ex knickerbockers

Both spun their butts out of Ny and now they playing great and world thinks the very best ..

I agree with this. JR and Melo grew up together. I think it helps when you know you are not one of the top 3-5 players on your team. Both Shump and JR are on a team with a lot f talent and depth. They are fitting in in roles they can be successful in.
2 yrs ago, JR was our second best player, and carried us for stretches when Melo was hurt....

In regards to LBJ finding Shump, Shump took significantly less shots when he was on the floor for the Cavs in the regular season than he did for the Knicks. He has had a great series but he also has played for four seasons in the nba and is a shooting guard that for his career has shot under 40%.

When you step out on the floor with what is one of the greatest players in the league today, I think that gives you confidence.
Basketball is the one sport where having the top player makes 4 scrubs look awesome. That can't happen in any other team sport.
And its why we should not trade back in this draft - we take BPA regardless if they have the same flaws/strengths as anyone on the roster (melo).
I ain't gonna lie I miss Ariza more than Shump and JR. JR isn't professional we found that out he lets the team down when they need him the most. Shump is still a chump to me Phil gave him ample opportunity to take his game to the next level he couldn't do it. These are what you call role players. Right now LBJ has them in check and don't think the trade didn't get these two in line also. A little fear crept in and you have what you see today decent role players that are falling in line.

how on earth do you come to this conclusion. if the bpa doesn't make others around him better-- which was your point-- then why simply add flaws to flaws? what you want, short of a lebron level, is a player who neutralizes the flaws of the main guy.

This is a good point. We are seeing them play after this trade which their value at career lows. And now they are with a future Hall of Famer on a playoff team, you can't screw up this opportunity.
Like JR said via Instagram, one man's trash is another man's treasure. +1 to them being role players finally with the appropriate roles. You don't cast Kevin Hart to play Othello.
Also JR has now quit partying so much now. I don't if it was he quit on the Knicks so much as nobody was having fun and he lost focus. Maybe that is another way to say he quit though... hard to get inside another person's head.

Playing with LeBron makes everyone look good. Hell he would make Bargs look like Dirk, why was Shump not effective with the Knicks how come he was not able to help the Knicks win? Let's put it this way the Cavs could probably plug half the league in with LBJ and they would experience similar results.
