The guys I have heard Mudiay compared to are Wall and Westbrook.

let me guess you want mudiay rather then winslow. why? have you seen him play and do you generally believe the chinee league is a good frame of reference to judge talent?

Let me guess you want Winslow because you watched a couple of tournament games where you also determined Okafor was a bum?

so you have never seen mudiay play but that is who you want?

I have watched film of him, know that he was the third rated prep prospect coming out of school and have read a lot of scouting reports. I confess to not watching the cba. But I also wouldn't claim to be an expert based on 2-3 tournament games.

wow!

you and briggs are just super scouts. The knicks scouts went to 30 kentucky games while they could have sent you or briggs to just 10 minutes of 1 game.

we only think that we are such great scouts because we have no idea what we are even looking for.

One big thing I do like about Winslow is how much of a competitive athlete he is. He gives it his all 110% and always strives to win. That is the kind of mentality we need on this Knicks team.
FistOfOakley @ 5/19/2015 11:14 PM
winslow is more a SG .... SF in 3 guard alignments...

he's athletic, can shoot and has some creativity... he broke out in a big way during tourney season and showed he can dominate against pretty tough comp...

one thing nobody mentions is that he had his biggest games when okafor was not getting any attention or when okafor wasn't playing... there's some evidence that he was hidden a bit and that his numbers are depressed because of it..

He broke out as a 4 man taking the opponent's 4s off the dribble. I just worry about when he face players bigger than him and just as mobile.

Plus, I need to know how he plays defense when he is chasing players off of screens left and right.

anrst @ 5/19/2015 11:23 PM
wow that weakness video is brutal. lack of offensive creativity is right. and his shot sucks.

still, im afraid with phil's talk about a culture and all, this is gonna be our guy.

thanks, much appreciated. now all you have to do going forward is to hew closely to reality by being honest when it counts and remember what i have said here for citation later when my prescience is borne out. winslow will be a very wise acquisition as a fourth pick.

that may be so and in case yuo issed it the knicks have basically sucked the entire time i have posted here with the exception of jason kidd for 24 games and jeremy lin for 12 games. the knicks would benefit from my insights. why is that so hard for you to accept? because you have a hard time being gracious and must continue to be stingy and devious?

the defense will come... he's pretty active... he loses focus from time to time but nba level defense is pretty intricate these days... i don't doubt he'll be good on that end...

and yes... he played a lot of 4 but he wasn't taking other 4s off the dribble... and even then fields was pretty good playing the 4 in college and didn't have too much trouble adjusting in the pros...

Fields also had NBA positional size but his lack of dribbling ability has hurt him. I just don't see the handle. Maybe he surprises me and becomes Dwayne Wade who played 3/4 and worked in the post at Marquette.

Yup it's settle in my mind Winslow is the new Wade but with range. No Justice no peace!

Stevo718 @ 5/20/2015 3:22 AM
Id rather trade the pick then pick up Winslow... as for Mudiay his parents are African he seems to have a good head on his shoulders... good passer, good penetrater, good fast break, high basketball IQ, good sized body... very athletic and did well in China. If trading the pick... pick up Herzoga.

I will laugh if the 76ers take him! You know there was that sudden story a month or two back saying the 76ers badly wanted him (and Hinkie has scouted him in person). They may go for the player with the biggest upside rather than best fundamentals- after all if you look at Embiid and Noels, they aren't your 'modern era' front court players, they were the picks with the greatest upside (and high risk). Lately all the talk has been 76ers going after Mudiay, but that could just be a smoke screen that was invented in case they got the 4th or lower pick.

RonRon wrote:Guessing Mudiay or Winslow, assuming we do not make trades

However what really hurts us is that The Lakers now will be our contenders and will likely get FA's over us, players will choose Lakers over NYK's, whether it is this season, next season, or the near future
That is where it really really hurt

I think LA is the best FA that is unlikely to even consider us without a top 2 pick
Greg Monroe could be our best option and I don't think we will be able to contend with CA's contract while we would have had a shot to lure TOP FA's with LA if we had a TOP 2 pick

Fisher played to win EVERY game while it was all meaningless games
Lakers tried to win EVERY game but they got luck on their side, in addition to Jordcan Clarkson and Jabari Brown's development
They could sign 2 FA's next summer, possibly even go for LA this summer and have the ability to add 2 more next season

There is a 0.0003% chance, but maybe if the Lakers sign Love in free agency, they would be willing to trade OK4 to us for Melo- maybe we would take back Kobe's contract, allowing them cap space to sign Rondo too (he ain't getting a max). The reasoning being a front court of Love and OK4 makes no sense. The Lakers are the only team Melo would likely accept a trade to. It would give them a team of Randle, Love, Melo, Rondo and whomever, and us a fresh start with OK4 and either Mudiay or Winslow as its building blocks (though signing free agents would be harder).

smackeddog @ 5/20/2015 3:37 AM
I could only get excited about drafting Winslow if we also had a second pick. Winslow on his own is just not enough, unfortunately
