they were a 100% right about shump, THJ, toney douglas..i like this kid a lot, i would take him over towns and oak, because we need a PG sooooooooooooo bad..the basketball gods know this

fishmike @ 5/20/2015 9:18 AM
He's a good prospect. No ifs ands or butts. Ironically he's most people's 4th choice.

Also easy to over look him.

Look, it's disappointing as shit to miss out on the top 3. But Mudiay could still be a player.

he could be but I hope that we are not the ones to find out.

and I watched him in the chinese super finals and ... eh - looks so raw and out of control. but again, I am not a scout.

Cartman718 @ 5/20/2015 9:33 AM
he could be a player... but more rondo-esque, than stephen curry-ish.
i think he will get even better at defense, but his offense is either fast break or nothing.
he needs the ball in his hands to score and that is his biggest weakness. i didn't see any highlights of him running around screens to catch the ball and make a shot.

He did. I saw that also... but there was some desperation there, and that out of control game was after his first one back from injury and he was very good and they won.

Also just turned 19 in March playing against professional men, and to be fair Marbury has forgotten more pro hoops than Mudiay knows. CBA is much tough competition than the NCAA, so some perspective.

Also if you watch him a lot he's got a lot of strong fundamentals, especially passing, rebounding and scoring around the basket.

He will make a lot of mistakes, but you also figure he will get minutes right away as well.

NYKBocker @ 5/20/2015 9:54 AM
After watching that...he has a lot of Dwayne Wade in him. I am not as bummed now as I was last night. Mudiay or Russell will be just fine. We just need to make sure we get a very good free agent haul.

that is untrue... we might not know much about his individual skillset but I do know that he was the number one prospect for the incoming college class last year and Larry Brown said SMU would have won it all if he had played for him instead of went to China. I know Mudiay is no scrub

he's not dwayne wade. dwayne wade is more of a SG than this guy will ever be. wade was lethal from mid range when he was not finishing at the rim from what i recall. i didn't see this guy make any consistent mid range or long range shots... everything was fast break.

Cartman718 @ 5/20/2015 9:59 AM
mudiay will probably be a bench player in 5 years i feel

no but you see a ton of highlights of his passing and opening up things for teammates and we desperately need a player who can make other players better, and he's a classic drive and dish PG. Nothing wrong with that. He's really the most like Westbrook. Doesnt shoot well, but can score about 100 ways around the basket. Too quick and agile and strong to guard when he's attacking the rim. Good upside on defense... He could be a very nice consolation prize for missing on 1-3

he's good in PNR, but if we really wanted a PG that makes others better, why couldn't we just have tried to get Russell?
Russell's defense is not as good as Mudiay's I'd imagine, but he's a much better prospect on offense.

I would love Russell, but I expect him to be off the board after Phili. At 4 you dont get to pick and choose, you take the BPA, and that certainly seems like Mudiay. Mudiay also has some physical tools that Curry doesnt. He's bigger more athletic and stronger. Make no mistake, Russell is my fav player in this draft, but not being able to get him doesnt make Mudiay any worse.

no, it makes us just dislike fisher more for that last one week of the regular season when he was on his period

If i was the lakers I would take russell, they already have Randle. The west is loaded with top of the line pg's and Byron scott won't survive after next season( 30% winning pct without one).

Lakers need a center and Oka4 has star potential.

Im over the "Fish messed up". You try to win games early and later. Its been a while since the worst team go the top seed. Shyt happens. Deal with the reality in front of you and thats what knicks do.

Isola doing his media get fans angry thing which is fine, but whats done is done. My take is Greg Monroe is plan b big man and we draft the next ball handler. THat could be either Russel, Muinday or Winslow.

WCS have any offensive game we have not seen? If so, he might be our pick.

they dont have anything. They have a prospect with a broken foot who hasnt played in the NBA. They are not passing on OK4 because of Randle.

Say what? You trippin man. Mudiay has as much upside as anyone in this draft. He could become the superstar we need. But at very least he will give us a great passing, fearless, high IQ PG to run our offense. He's sort of a Rondo/Jennings hybrid. His ability to change speeds reminds me a lot of John Wall. He doesn't have great shooting instincts yet, but his form is fine.

The big ? is his defensive effort. But the same could be said of most NBA players.

What do you mean? That Lakers grab Russell thus forcing Philly to take Mudiay and leaving OK4/Towns for us? THat would be a miracle, but it's always a possibility.
