Draft oka4, get Butler.
Draft Mundiay, Get Monroe.
Resign Bargnani either PF or off the bench.
I know Butler is restricted but Can Chicgao keep him and Rose? Can we front load a contract to make it hard for them?
Does the Triangle and Zen influence of Phish elevate Butler from where he was to alpha triangle leader and exist with Melo?
What I don't know but have the belief is Jackson and Fish have a system and in the past that system took all star players and made them into gods.
I have an faith that this is possible in the knicks future. Kobe and Jordan were not gods before Jax.
I want to believe. Not an over nite thing, but something to build on. Melo can be a nice side kick.
Monroe is a dud...He hasn't help Detroit win games, so why bring he here to be slaughtered in the press...He is a low motor, zero drive player...I rather wait a year to make a run at Al Horford..

I kind of agree. Don't sign players just to use up our cap space. Grab players who fit the "mold" and will contribute; otherwise, hold out for someone better in a subsequent FA market.
If Melo doesn't like it, he should request a trade. The era of letting "superstars" dictate the direction of the team should be done. Fuck Dolan.
Do you think that Monroes D can get better when he will be playing 5 not 4?

That's like asking who is prettier, Yoda or Java the Hut...

How is he any different then Aldridge? Minus Lillard, Aldridge never played in a playoff game.
I think Monroe is pretty good and would be a good fit for the Triangle. He's not my first choice, but if you look at FA, the actual choices for the Knicks are pretty limited.
I like Monroe he would fit well at the center/pf position. Making a run at Horford is nice to say but Atlanta isn't just going to let him leave. The team just made the conference finals with him. In Monroe's case they were always rebuilding in Detroit. They were bringing in players that had very little experience. He was the most consistent out of all the players. People forget that he is one of the better passing big in the league.

I think his passing would be a real boon to the Triangle Phil is trying to run.
His defense is questionable, but that's why I like Stein so much. Anyway.
I do think of the RFA, Tobias Harris might be available because Skiles is supposedly Orlando's #1 choice to coach. Skiles and Harris hated one another in Milwaukee.
Monroe is 24 and basically 16/10/2 asts. He has potential to be even better. Detroit's offense didn't get the best out of him IMO. In Detroit the last 2 years he's avg'd 12 FGA's which is too low IMO. In this offense he has a chance to get more touches, more assists and FGA's. People should be careful not to base everything off how a player looks on another team. We play a completely different style of ball.
Resign Bargs? I think he goes back to Italy to coach first. Hopefully, at least. Had enough Bargs for one lifetime.
Mudiay and Monroe? I'll sign for anything that can at least give Melo a little time at 3 instead of 4.

Aldridge was huge in the playoffs last year against Houston 26 pts 11 boards in 11 total games...He has been in the playoffs 5 of the last 6 years even before Liliard got there..Aldridge can carry a team in stretches, Monroe isn't that type of player..Monroe's team are averaging 30 wins the last4/5 years..It's not even close..

Monroe is in Detroit. He's bored there and needs new scenery. He's never been in a stable environment there to help him develop. The talent is there, and at age 24, still plenty of potential.

Then NY should do wonders for him..But his game is his game...U can't max a guy out who can't carry your team in stretches...
Also you can't max a guy out because there aren't any better alternatives..Let's wait until the following year...

Agree 199%. Overpaying Monroe is an error. Horford has a much better all around game and plays D.

Why not make a run at both. Horford and Melo would bring great offensive versatility and Monroe would man the post.

Maybe I'm not seeing it..What can Monroe bring to the Knicks?

How do we know what Monroe's max potential is? They only gave Monroe 12 shots a game the last 2 yrs. Meanwhile LMA has avg'd 20 shots a game the last 2 yrs. LMA is a better player but we don't know what Monroe would do with more shots. The Triangle is a better offense for a low post big like Monroe. I'm positive he'd be a much better fit in our offense than in Detroit.

So then why would you max a player out that you don't know is a sure thing?..I disagree with your assessment of fitting in the triangle because he doesn't have a midrange game like Gasol..He is not good defensively on par with Gasol...And he isn't the low post beast you are making him out to be...If he was, he wouldn't be averaging 12 shot and Drummond wouldn't be their main low post guy...
