If its Carlisle or Spo I would be surprised.

I like Carlisle, but he has badly clashed with their prized FA signing Parsons, and their trade aquisition Rondo- maybe Mavs get worried about their ability to attract FAs, or maybe they become desperate to re-sign Rondo. Maybe he's alienated Ellis, who they need to re-sign

And hand Fisher the remaining $20mil over 4yrs? Even after a buyout agreement that is a boatload of money to pay a coach to go away
I like Fisher better than Shaw.

What has Shaw done to warrant this?

He is more ready than Fisher to be a coach. He paid his dues

your answer is that he used to be an assistant? He was awful and didn't connect to players in Denver.

I'd rather just make Shaw an assistant coach, which is much more likely

don't we have enough star assistants?

One of them might be going back to OKC (Donnovan is targeting him)
The only reason to "fire" fish was out of anger. Basically you get rid of a coach that can't fix a problem. How many times we gonna ask fish to tank?
It's not that.
Thibs seems to be on the outs and my take is Chicago wants him to resign so he can take another job and they don't want to pay him, or negotiate a buy out.
This is to be expected so that would not be him.
Celtics love Stevens!!!!
We can all guess so I'll throw in mine: Doc Rivers!
Contract aside, the guys underperforms and is wearing too many hats. Balmer didn't pick him (he wanted Phil Jax if his bid to move Kings to seattle succeeded!)
Thats one.
Nets fire Hollins? Nets problem is roster, not coach.
Bucks fire Kidd? He fall off the wagon? Domestic violence problem?
Maybe some other coach is having personal problems and is getting canned?
Lakers don't fire Byron who was on the podium last week.
I think the "unexpected" coach could be McHale, who I do not view as a very good head coach just like Scotty Brooks
It would be unexpected because of the injuries he had to deal with on top of where the Rockets made it the regular season and going to the WCF
Only way I think it would be Fisher is because he is getting bashed on the #4 pick and NOT the #1 had he not won meaning less game and we were originally planning to make dramatic improvements to become contenders this summer
And if Phil Jackson is giving considerations to break the entire team down and that Fisher doesn't want to be a part of that...
Fisher was not ready to be a Head Coach and I think we need some new assistant Coaches as well, with Brian Shaw and some development coaches/assistant coaches and trainers that have the ability to develop talents of players that we could compare with in which they had success with

how in the world could it be mchale? That would be the biggest travesty after what he has done in Houston and what he has gotten out of many crappy players.
Thibs Today. Is that the one?

Agree with this. You can see a lot of guys on this team respect Fisher. A lot of guys around the league, too. I don't see that with Shaw. I'd be surprised if Shaw got another gig any time soon.

I'm betting that's what he was referring to. The nice thing about leaking a report like that this time of year is that it's hard to be wrong!

yeah ... nobody saw that one comin

Not so sure, there have been rumbings about Thibs getting fired for months now. I'd say that it was likely if anything.

Mark Jackson, Scott Brooks, Monty Williams, George Karl (his final year in Denver as COY), Thibs, Vinny Del Negro
McHale just isn't a very good coach, if you watch them play, especially with Harden all 4 of the other players DO NOT MOVE, because they do not know what Harden wants to do and take space away from him
That is the same crap as Woodson with CA, though Harden's ability to penetrate open things up
That was why Jordan and the Clippers dominated them early in the series and some of the comebacks were with HARDEN on the bench
With Jordan protecting the paint and whoever defending Harden taking away his left side, with no player movement, the defense isn't exertting energy and able to conserve it for OFFENSE
In play off basketball, at some point you need the ball to move with player movement, you cannot just play 1v1, not making the opponents DEFENSE work, allowing them to anticipate what Harden can do and take away his LEFT side with no player movement
He just isn't a very good Coach, he has done well considering the injuries but look at the list above, it doesn't mean anything if management doesn't believe he can bring em to the next level
