Their press release makes them sound more dysfunctional than the Knicks.
Man I wish we could get him.
So he gets $9 mil just to stay home? Sweet!
I'm guessing he'll take the Pelicans job or maybe OKC. Did OKC hire anyone yet?
He's a damn good coach. I think this is a bad move by the Bulls. Their front office seems dysfunctional, though good at drafting.
edit: oh yeah, OKC hired Billy Donovan. I feel like they shoulda waited for Thibs.
About damn time- they treated him disgracefully for over a year and handled this firing even more disgracefully. Hope he finds a team that actually appreciates him.
Wow! I guess we all saw this coming, but it's still somewhat shocking when it happens. He'll be fine. He's too good to be out for long.
Ha- i love how the press release says that the discussions within the team should remain private, when THEY have been throwing HIM under a bus for months!

Why is this shocking. He is a good coach but his style will run the players into the ground. The grind it out style doesn't work well. It's made for regular seasons but come playoff time when the teams are more on par it doesn't work well.
overrated... easy to be a great "defensive mind" when you have KG, Rondo, Posey, etc etc... those Bos teams had GREAT defensive players. Noah and Butler are pretty damn good pieces to start with also, and those teams always fizzled in the playoffs. They never once had one impressive series win, usually a 1 and done.
Is he a better coach than JVG? I cant see anything about him that makes him so.... and JVG was good, not great.
Does, he still get the money if he is just an ast? If so if I was Phil I would at least ask. Yes, I realize the chance is below 1% but I think it would be a smart move. He can get paid while taking a lay of the land and eventually end up coaching the Knicks probably or he lay in wait for another job.

I'd assume he still gets his money. He wasn't fired for cause.
Even with Skiles connection to the Magic, Im surprised they want to hire him over Thibs, if the reports are true.
What the hell are we waiting for? Get him as a defensive coordinator or hell make him the head coach and demote Fisher.

you see how playoff coaches get fired, yet we have a 17 win coach who's being praised and honored for the job he's done this season. That's how backwards this franchise is. This guy has more rope then a professional hiker.
FISHER SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED, woodson won 20 more games then him the previous season, and was kicked to the curb with the quickness.

This times a million, the dude looked over-matched and clueless all season. Would hire Thibs in a heart beat. Then again never liked the Fisher hire in the first place
What's up with you people? You make it seem like this season we tried to be all that we can be when in reality, ( I know, a foreign concept) we were TANKING. yes Fisher is to blame for the last few games that we have won, but not for our 17 win record.
Thibs is a great defensive coach, but as we all know, basketball is a two-way game, two-way players are needed to make a good team and this is 1000% amplified when it comes to the coach. Unless you are a two-way coach you are not going to win much in the playoffs( see JVG, MDA is on the other end of the spectrum , but the same principle applies)
A big NO THANK YOU to Thibs as our potential coach
I love defense-first coaches but I also don't love running players into the ground over 82 games. The season is too long, inhumanly so, and Thibodoux didn't respect the limitations of the human body. If he wants to have success going forward he needs to be able to tap into depth over the regular season even if it costs a few games. I felt bad for Deng and Noah the last couple of years.

It's not all on Thibs- their medical team were a joke, they cleared Noah to return to a playoff game with a broken bone (I think, can't remember the full details off the top of my head), when he clearly was struggling even to walk!
Also read about the treatment the Bulls management and medical staff gave Deng when he had a spinal tap that went wrong. They're an awful organization.
Wow. I think he probably is going to coach the Pelicans. Would love if there was a way to move Fisher upstairs and give Thibs the KNicks job.

he is not going up to his room ... we either kick him out of the house or nothing
Y'all think Thibs would have won .640% of this games the last 5 years here?
You think Phil wants this guy?
Bulls got some weird stuff going on. Paxton and Del Negro got into a fight and they buried him on the way out. They are doing the same to Thibs. They HATE THIS GUY! Now, we all love him cuz he'd play Camby over Oak and bring back the good old days but he also wears out his players and they don't get to the finals. is it his fault? I doubt it. Want him over fish? Of course you do. Im sure he' have worked miracles with Cole, Sam. JR, Shump and Sweet Lou! Get real fellas, Phil wants his guy. Right not Thibs is poison and teams have to consider why he don't play well with others and why chicago despite his on court success HATES THIS GUY! Any of you understand this guy? Why would he want to be an assistant for a triangle guy? Why would he do that? This guy might never coach again. Does his defensive strategy and philosophy also grind his players? Noah is always breaking at the end of the season and was awful this year. Rose can't stay on the court.
I like the guy, but lets be real, THEY HATE HIM and there is a reason.
