Apparently Sixers GM Sam Hinkie was the only GM to make the trip to China to watch Mudiay play. Hope he likes what he sees and Russell drops to us.

If we can't get Towns....you better draft the guy who can guard him.

the league seems to swing back and forth... right now small ball, spread the floor with shooters is en vogue... a few years of AD and Towns dominating may swing the pendulum back to a big man game. we shall see.

I think thats why WCS is so special. He can survive in all phases. And as he gets stronger, he will be able to guard the heavier center types. Right now, like you said, the center position fits his current size. It's back to the KG of centers now.....Wire Strong and Agile centers, with lateral quickness. Shaq was the only one to really change that. Centers has always been long, lean and agile.....

We may not be able to outscore teams in a shootout, but with WCS we can hold them down and beat them with great defense. We can look to shut down teams PnR offense and 3pt shooting. With WCS you can press up on perimeter shooters and force them to drive right into the teeth of our defense. I think it's the only logical way to go. Add in a perimeter defender like DeMarre Carroll, Wesley Matthews of Danny Green and you can really match up defensively with these teams.

WCS is so good on defense, he makes everyone else look good. His energy is contagious. Imagine that dude doing his things in front of the garden crowd?

The last defender we had with that type of impact was the junkyard Doug (Jerome Williams)

I actually think Tyson in year one was great and Kmart was also really good when he was able to get on the floor.

Tyson just out grew his stay. We wasn't motivated anymore and started getting those 30 year old injuries. Thats the problem with most big men....Injuries come quicker and often. But Tyson was also a high schooler....So he never developed the IQ needed for the NBA. Stein is older and ready to impact his first 3 years, during the Melo and Phil era. It's like getting a mature FA, but at a cheaper price. Kentucky prepares you for the NBA, more than any other college.

Yeah, when in doubt... Kentucky the past few years has been pretty fricking consistent in producing polished NBA players. Nerlens Noel, Anthony Davis, Randle, Bledsoe, Cousins, Kanter, John Wall, Terrence Jones, etc...

I think most people just don't understand that when you're building a team that you want to have sustained success having that base of elite defense makes it all possible. You don't need to worry so much about finding all the best scorers in the world if you can hold teams down and play efficient ball.

If Phil did draft WCS that would totally change this team's ability to defend the PnR and the 3pt line. It should hopefully lead to more fast breaks and easy buckets. We've got some guys that can get out on the break and finish. Phil has brought in some long and athletic players who should be able to defend with WCS backing them up.

And they didnt even show his passing ability. His dunks were effortless, and he's bulking up. Would freak if he fell to us and Phil drafted him. The second part has to be emphasized, hard to know for sure what he's going to do.

He actually looked better during the games. Mudiay has a chance to show his elite athleticism and agility on defense. If Mudiay can develop a jumper like John Wall, he could be better than Russell, as far as leading a team. But right now, it's just potential. A smart team looking for long term success might snatch him. But I think the first 3 picks will go as planned. And it's up to us to pick between Mudiay, Winslow and WCS. If we pick Mudiay, look for Phil to trade him. If we pick WCS, he's a keeper. Just my gut feeling!

If he really looks special, LA may take him if OK4 does not blow them away.

Perfect going away present for Kobe, who will have a year to impart to Russell the wisdom he's accrued through his long and storied career.

The only other player in this draft who might have the ability to entertain like Russell is Hezonja, but he is not the ball handler and floor leader Russell looks like he can be.

Russell might end up being the guy fans of other teams tune in to watch because they might see something special when he plays. You're talking about a team linked to Hollywood and the team which used to be known as the Showtime Lakers.

Folks around here always talk about taking the best player available- where is it etched in stone that OK4 is the BPA at 2 if Towns is gone at #1?

We might end up taking OK4 because of this, but who knows what Philly will do if they feel Mudiay is not their man...they might even trade out.

I think the option that Hinkie picks a euro and has him stay in Europe for another year is always an option.

I don't know... this is Hinkie's third draft, right... it may be time to start showing SOME results. Also, guards like Mudiay and Russell fit Philly's stash of bigs perfectly. They'd be fools not to take one of the guards.

Wow... that would take balls given the recent history of his team. Not sure the fans would accept this. If they had gotten the LA pick because it had been lower than 5, he might have done this kind of thing-can't believe he would do it now.

He already has a kid there (Saric??)-not sure he can play here next year, but he's supposed to be pretty good. He might end up tanking one more year- hard to believe.

philly has been waiting very patiently for a player like russell. He is a guarantee and everything else is a smoke screen.

this mudiay talk is just silly and filler

Saunders is a Harvard kid. Not an Uber athlete, but has some game. 6'3"+...Saw some video of him, but can't remember where. Someone at a Laker site proposed him as a poor man's Russell. He isn't but is not a bad player.

He might be a priority UFA for us.
