According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, the Minnesota Timberwolves are offering up a trade for Ricky Rubio and are very much interesting in grabbing another top pick in the draft to select D’Angelo Russell.
While many believe that the Mavericks and Kings are potential trade partners there are reports of the Knicks as a potential player for Rubio. The Knicks have the space to absorb his four-year, $55 million contract and he might be the what the Knicks are looking for to fit in to the triangle offense. While he is known for his assists one aspect he needs to work on is his outside shooting.
Nevertheless, Rubio seems to be a perfect fit in Phil Jacksons’ triangle offense because of his incredible court vision, not to mention he would be a terrific facilitator for high-scoring forward Carmelo Anthony. At this point of his career, Rubio clearly doesn’t want to wait another 2 or 3 years to make a serious run at the title. So do the Knicks who are banking on a good offseason to get themselves back on a right track.
The Knicks have set up workout dates for Mudiay, Winslow, Cauley-Stein and more likely to consider all their option. The Knicks might be looking for more than just a player for pick trade in the draft.

Interesting but I don't see Phil doing this unless there was more to the deal. Rubio has been somewhat of a disappointment and I can't imagine how Phil could sell this as the best use of his #4 pick.

I think something needs to be added. But I can see the T-Wolves taking Russell with the number one and then take Okafor with the 4th pick.

These rumors and suggestions don't jibe with what Phil has been saying he really wants to do. They'll listen to all kinds of offers, but I don't see them doing a deal unless they come out with a great deal. Very few of these deals have really hit it out the park for the Knicks.

Chad Ford is about as idiotic as can be. This trade would be lose-lose for the Knicks. SMH.

This just completely skips the fact that everyone outside of the Center position needs to be able to shoot and the triangle tends to have PG who can shoot a 3.
i would love rubio, but not for the #4 pick. if we're taking rubio's contract, i want something else, or the swap of #1, like briggs and martin said. rubio is only 24 and i do think he will develop a better jumpshot, but that's just my opinion. rubio playing in the garden would be pretty special i think. yes, he doesn't fit the mold of pjax's past PG's in the triangle, but that's not to say that adjustments to the scheme can be made. we gotta work with this roster and i think adding rubio is a good start.

S C R U B I O - Post ankle surgery he is the worst possible player for his salary. even worse than Melo. Of course the Knicks are interested.

perhaps i still like rubio's chances of rounding out his game more than others? i do think his speed and court vision are some of the best in the league, it just needs to be harnassed and he needs to develop a better shot. maybe he can, maybe he can't, i just think he eventually will, but like i said, just my opinion.

Its well know that towns is an east coast guy....he doesnt want to live in Minnesota. Its a good deal for them. Plus they still get who they want at 4....

it depends on the future package.
right now, rubio is like jose but worse ... horrible contract, injury prone, disaster shooter (and I was his biggest fan ... what the hell do I know)

I can almost guarantee that Phil would get more back then just Rubio for the 4th pick. He could just draft Mudiay if he wants a PG that can't shoot but can pass and have him on a rookie deal instead of 14/15 million per.
