Very strange shot. Effective from the 3, but when I saw him this year he shot poorly. Can he shoot from midrange with that form and an opponent closing in on him?
His J has the kind of form that a kid makes up when he's learning the game and just trying to score, without thinking about mechanics. It is a shot that someone early in his career should have corrected, but did not, because he was probably trampling opponents on the way to the basket and did not care about shooting technique.
It seems like almost all the kids in this draft, at least those I've seen/heard, seem to be good kids who sound intelligent with some understanding of the game, but he should have stayed in school another year.
Drop some weight, work on your game, and be picked much earlier.
Wonder about some things, though:
Not of the prepackaged workouts we've seen involved the rapid fire shooting we saw here. This was similar to the 3pt shooting contests at the All-Star game.
At what point in the practice did this take place? Was he tired or fresh?
Why are some parts of a workout shown but not others? Is this representative of what he did throughout the workout?
Not a fan of Stanley. Just never really gave me that feeling he could be a good NBA player. I don't get the fascination some scouts have with him.

He did shoot all of his shots behind the 3. Mudiay was taking 2-3 steps inside the line.
I am reminded of a Shawn Marion for some reason when I watch that clip of him shooting

Yup, I can see that...maybe not as high of an arc.
I think he's going to be very good. He's highly competitive, huge for a wing, quick laterally, a good defender, a good player. I good easily see him having a Ron Artest or Lance Stephenson type game. The shot doesn't look great, but he makes them. Form can be improved with a good coach.
Briggs, man, for someone who talks about the importance of defense, you sure do seem to short change prospects in the draft who are great defenders.
This guy is a legit two way player. Knows how to create, move with the ball, gets after it relentlessly on both ends. He's going to be a good pro.

it's like that with most Arizona products... hype, hype, hype all year... then the talking heads don't want to admit that they're wrong. Then they go higher than they should but everyone praises the value... Jordan Hill, Channing Frye--I'll pass on Stanley Johnson
I personally think he's crazy talented but he's dumb as rocks. Probably end up being another Wesley Johnson.
