Knicks · What do we actually need from FA to contend for a playoff spot? (page 1)

Imo If we draft a big like Stein or Kaminsky then we need:
-A starting PG/SG
- A Starting SF/PF
-A backup SF
-A back up PF
-A back up C/third string C

If we draft a guard(Winslow, Mudiay, or fingers crossed Russell then we need:
-A starting SF/PF
-A starting C
-a back up SF
-A backup PF
-A backup/third string C

So we really need to make five signings that include two starting players and 3 good rotation players for our front court.

Until the draft is over we won't know the FA Priority.

If they draft WCS or Okafor I doubt they go for Monroe or D. Jordan
If they draft Mudiay or Winslow the FA roster moves will then be a lot more open.
Also the possibilities that open up if Melo is playing PF insteasd of SF next year lead to a lot of unknown moves as well.

The one thing I could definitely see Phil trying to do is getting a second legit scorer next to Melo and putting defense on the roster overall. How that happens we'll have to wait to see.

Contend for a playoff spot? That means basically have a team a little over .400 and roughly a top 20 NBA team (out of 30). We probably just need a healthy Melo and a couple of solid players added at any positions.
