But I also think there is ONLY 1 Kaminsky in this draft and hes unique and highly skilled. Were going to lose BPA because we have focus on 1 side of the ball instead of thinking hey this guy can be a defensive guy as well as a Dirk/Pau combination type all start in this league. I think if Kaminsky played in a different team in an open system where h was allowed to take 4-5 threes to go along with 7-10 post/mid range shots he wouldve been in the 25-10 club in CBB.
If you go by that article about Porzingis being scouted by the Knicks, it would seem that Kaminsky is only a trade-down option, as he was not listed in the 4 names.
Maybe a smokescreen?
Said it dozens of times, already, I don't understand why some folks don't appreciate what Kaminsky has to offer as a player, and I think he will get even better. He would be Popovich's choice if he could get him.
He gets a chance to show something next week-expect he will be giving a pretty good look by Jackson.

There's a general rule of drafting that i have heard on many occasions. You put players into tiers and never draft down a tier. Towns, Okafor, Russell, and Mudiay are tier one. Porz and Winslow are close, but i think they are tier 2 to most. Mudiay becomes the default selection in most instances. If the Knicks see enough in Winslow's workout that shows star potential, maybe he moves up, but that's the only way.

I don't think that simplifies it much. People will disagree on the tiers. I definitely wouldn't put Mudiay on the 1st tier. I don't think I could even put him on the same tier as Winslow.
all the mocks are split on who the knicks are taking so it's far from mudiay consensus 'tier 1' status... the only ppl doing that are mudiay's rabid fan base...

Yeah, not so sure Mudiay is tier 1. If he was, there wouldn't be so much debate about who the Knicks take at 4.
He has a lot to prove and a lot of question marks.

General rankings across all draft evaluations are that Mudiay has always been a tier 1 player, and in the conversation (on the outside looking in of course) for the top pick. No one doubts his star potential. Winslow reprsents a player with lower bust potential, but somewhat limited due to offensive skills and position concerns. His upside is probably Jimmy Butler or Leonard production, which would obviously be amazing, and why he warrants consideration, but Mudiay upside is Rose/Wall etc. If you don't place him in the same tier or tier above Winslow, that is your personal preference, but that's not the general consensus. I would be happy with either player though, because i think they will both be really good.

I am definitely not in his fan base, i just see how the momentum is down on him because of his lack of visibility. Towns, Okafor, and Russell have improved in the public eye, whereas Mudiay has been unknown. It doesn't make him a worse prospect though, just unknown. Mock drafts are split because they don't know if the Knicks will take him, but as far as his ranking as the 4th best prospect, that is consistent.
i just haven't seen this consensus particularly in the analytics community who are pretty high on winslow... even on dx and chad ford's mudiay's been all over the place and so has winslow...
let's just say there's less variance in the top 3 towns, okafor, russell, since they go in some order for most mocks and draft boards, than there is for the rest of the draft...

Analytics models definitely like Winslow, which is a great thing. It makes most people comfortable with him. Mudiay isn't included on any models though, because he doesn't have the same transferable stats.
Winslow. He's been my guy since we untotally-believably were the only team to fall in the lottery. He's got good offensive and defensive production, good size, and is only 19 so he can still grow. He's a high floor/high ceiling prospect. He doesn't have the major red flags that guys like Mudiay, Kaminsky, and Porzingis all have and has a much higher ceiling than WCS.

I said almost. I'll grant he looks good in a small minority of the metrics I see
defense is hard to gauge with metrics
