draft mudiay, its a point guard league and he can have a jason kidd like effect on a team
blkexec@ 6/13/2015 7:40 PM
I think china is really messing everybody up.....if there was no one and done rule.....and all you had was hs videos like this on Mudiay.....its a given he would be a top 4 pick. Playing in china is not a good measuring stick for pass first guards......Its only a good measure for offensive guards which is why Marbury. ...jr smith....nate robinson...bynum.....excelled because they are shoot first guards. Mudiay is a natural passer.....those are his instincts. Wcs natural instincts is defense......mudiay is a team ball player....but he has take over the game ability on offense.......athletic enough with good size for defense. Hes the pg i wanted shump to be......with better handle.....and breaking down the defense. https://www.google.com/url?
Mudiay keeps talking about the physical play in China..Is he serious?

I heard him say that also, about the physical play in China.....But I see nothing wrong with that statement. He's just being honest. When you go from HS ball to playing with grown men, it's going to be physical. Grown men always feel like their edge against any young man is being physical. So I'm sure it was a huge adjustment coming from HS ball, where he's usually just as strong as everybody else, if not stronger.
The advantage for him will be his impact during his rookie year. Most rookies haven't played pro before coming into the league. Especially as a PG who handles the ball all the time.....So he should come out the gate as one of the top rookies and depending on the team, he should be in the race for rookie of the year, because of his pro experience.
He's a big strong guard....I doubt the physical game in the NBA would bother him any more than the other rookies. But whats interesting is after watching the video, I clicked on Russells shoot around, and if you didn't know any better, you wouldn't know who the better shooter was. I don't know if it's something with the Lakers rim or their workout routine, but he missed as many jumpers as Mudiay, and his release was just as slow.
Mudiay, Winslow, Stein are my top 3 choices for the 4th pick. All three will have a positive impact on the team. But Mudiay has more star potential with his athleticism and ability to break down anybody 1 on 1....

Mudiay's defense from the PG position is very underrated. He's also a mature 19 yr old, which is key for his development. Maturity alone means he will put in the work as a pro (similar to the pro workouts he's already used to in China).....Having that ability to stay focused......Set goals....and achieve those goals. He's already proved that.....Same with Winslow.
But Mudiay is a pass first PG.....So he gets the slight advantage because we will be filling a position for the next 4-5 years or more. Don't have to worry about having a PG that pass.....and defense. He does both.
You do worry about Winslow's size and WCS ability to grow offensively. But with Mudiay, he's a break you down guard.....make something out of nothing type player. He will come in and immidiately work on his jumper to perfection similar to what Kobe and MJ did coming into the triangle offense. It forces you to improve your jumper. But he does everything else so naturally, which is why he should be a huge impact on any team.

fishmike wrote:Mudiay represents something the Knicks are so desperate for... a guy who can create for others. We dont have a single player who really does that well and its Mudiay's calling card. You can knocks the CBA all you want, but he played well against grown men and pros. After he got hurt he stuck around, stayed ready and showed some toughness when thrown into the fire in the playoffs. If this guy is the pick over all the others we looked at you have to be pretty excited about his upside.
According to Phil....He's targeting guys like Mudiay and WCS.
He wants guys that can get to the rim (Mudiay)
And guys that can protect the rim (WCS)
He doesn't care for 3 pt shooters (Kaminsky)
Phil will find his outside shooters like Novak in free agency or the d league. But i don't see him using a high pick on a 3 pt shooter.
Attack the rim and protect the rim is Phils building strategy. Thats the exact opposite of what we've seen in years at the Garden. But it's exactly what we need!
blkexec wrote:So before all the Kaminsky lovers chime in.....I'm not saying you only add rim attackers and rim protectors.....You need a balance of everything.
But Phil is building this team with attackers and protectors as the back bone of the team. Which is a great building strategy if possible. The problem is WCS will be gone if we pick Mudiay. Mudiay will be gone if we pick WCS.
kaminsky is a balance of everything offensively. He's known for his versatility. He has a post game and attacks and cuts to the rim. he isn't only known for his jumper and 3 point shooting. Have you watch any of kaminsky's game because it seems you're just saying stuff.

knicks need a guy who can really pass and get some ball movement
masud@ 6/14/2015 11:56 PM
If you think Kaminsky is gonna be doing that kinda stuff in the league often then you're gonna be in for a rude awakening.

The draft express dude is saying Mudiay has little momentum at the moment due to bad workouts- as suspected he's in bad shape and has been shooting badly

He's got the physical tools, but his actual game was probably set back a year or more by playing in China instead of an elite NBA prep school like Kentucky.
I think whichever team drafts him is going to need to give him special attention.
I would love to think that the Knicks could be that team to set him on the right path... but I don't know if they are.

Won't deny you are correct, but a pretty funny way of looking at the school.
There are many alumni, even former BB players from an earlier era, who would cringe if they were to hear or read KU described in this way.
