Days after the end of the Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers are working on upgrading their roster by shopping the potentially valuable contract of Brendan Haywood, and -- in some cases -- offering it along with the 24th overall pick in Thursday's draft, sources told ESPN.com.

Haywood's $10.5 million contract is not guaranteed for next season if he's waived by Aug. 2. This could be attractive to a team looking to either offload salary now or use it as part of another deal that could be executed during free agency in July.

Calderon for Haywood + pick #24?

Hmm, interesting. I wish Calderon had been healthier and not played like shit this year but it's certainly worth a shot. I'd throwin literally any other player on the roster if Cleveland asked, except for our #4 of course, in order to get this done.

Could you imagine the people crying when Calderon contributed to their playoff run next year? You know, exactly the same people who are claiming he has no value and want him cut from the team?

To be honest, at this point I'd keep him- there aren't that many FAs I like this offseason, plus I think Calderon can actually build his value up and get you something at the trade deadline (he'll almost be an expiring, might be valuable to a team thinking ahead to the playoffs, if his shooting is back on form).

Also, Cavs can't afford him- if they max out Thompson AND love and re-sign Shump, they are really messing with huge luxury tax penalties

Well he is not likely to get the Knicks better than the 24th pick so if this deal was on the table it would be smart. I'd even throw in Early or thanasis.

I mean Jose would've gotten chewed up and spit out by those GS guards during the Finals. Can't picture them thinking he could be an answer for them. I think they'd be better off with Dellavedova if it came down to him or Calderon...Unless we offer other assets like Galloway, THJ and/or Early along with Calderon. To make this work, I'd throw it all on the table for them. I know for a fact we could replace Galloway, THJ and Early with better players and do it for next to nothing, so to get the 24th pick out of it--that'd be a score. The Cavs may look at these 3 as more valuable assets than they really are. They did with JR and Shump.. And if we could incorporate Calderon for Haywood and then immediately waive Haywood, that's a homerun trade. I dunno, to me trading Galloway, THJ AND Early (all 3) is definitely worth unloading Calderon's contract and getting the 24th pick...Trouble picturing it but who knows.. Pick up the phone, Phil.

Lawson just for #24? Denver was asking for 6 straight up and getting #24 instead would be a bad trade. Ty is a lot better than any player they can get at 24 unless Denver gets lucky.

Calderon wouldn't be a bad look if all they want is a backup for Irving. They have a PG defender in Della, they need a facilitator like Calderon is and they've done business with NY before.

Mo Williams Interested In Cavs, Hornets

June 19th at 2:56pm CST by Chuck Myron

Soon-to-be free agent Mo Williams has strong interest in playing with the Cavs again, and he’d also like to re-sign with the Hornets, reports Chris Haynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group. The point guard and Cleveland are expected to talk if Williams, who’s seeking a multiyear deal, is willing to take the limited amount the Cavs have to spend, and LeBron James would welcome the return of his former teammate “with open arms,” Haynes also hears.

Haven't we traded enough away for our ex-players to win championship instead of us?

David Lee: Thanks, Jim Dolan
Timofey Mozgov: Thanks.
Iman Shumpert: Thanks.
J.R. Smith: Thanks.
