Kristaps Porzingis' measurements from his workout in Las Vegas last week include a height of 7'1.25" without shoes, a 7'6 wingspan, and weight of 230 lbs.
Oh boy. That 7'6 wingspan is just another reason why it's hard not to get excited about Zinger.
Nice 7' 1.25" without shoes = 7' 3" with. I like

It's quite impressive. The only issue is how he's able to put that great length to use. It's too bad we can't get any info out of the Knicks Workout so we could see what they had him doing. It's really looking like even at #4 the Knicks are in great shape. I can list quite a few players i'd like at #4 with no real reservations, so that's great. If this kid is the real deal that would be such a huge deal for this franchise. We don't often get breaks like that.

He will be a decent player at best. My gut says he is serviceable at best.

I am not sure if Phil wants to draft him but there is a lot to like.
^^^^That certainly helps raise the value of the fourth pick.

I don't know what his final performance level is gonna be, but one thing I like about him is that he's got a passion for the game and he wants to be great. IMO that's where it starts. If you don't have that passion to be great you can't maximize your full potential.
Despite being so tall and long he's surprisingly coordinated and agile. It's just really hard to say what we're looking at but you do get the idea that he might be something different than what we've seen with guys like Bargs.
It's still so early in his development as well. He's got a lot more growth physically and mentally. It would be very interesting to see Phil have the guts to draft this kid. I could only assume that if he did that the feeling was unanimous among all of his staff that the kid has legit upside and a good chance to realize his full potential. At least he tries to defend even if he's not quite there technique wise, but those things can be taught. The desire is the key thing. Not every young Euro big wants to defend so that's a good sign.

A lot of people thought Gobert would be a bust--when he's 7-3 250 with bis length and athletic ability/ skill package --I'm sure he will be a bust

You know I wanted to draft Gobert but he was in the range he was suppose to be in. A Euro with the 4th pick IMHO is a disaster.
As they say, if you're going to gamble, you gamble on bigs. (happens almost every year, almost every year they're busts...) :)
I think this guy happens to have a really nice feel - moves very fluid.
Thinking back to Pau Gasol (#3 overall pick), I remember watching an early game with him on TnT or vs the Knicks and thinking - damn, what a waste of a pick when I first saw him. Then he went to work and put up numbers. He had a fantastic rookie season. He'll be part of the basketball hall of fame one day and will always be in the debate for best foreign basketball player in the history of the game.
Rookie stats, age 21: 17.6ppg, 8.9rpg, 2.7apg, 2.1bpg, 51.8FG%.
As far as thin is concerned - some guys just have it. Some guys are always going to look rail thin - as long as they're comfortable with their bodies, go with it.
K Mart (at age 45 with the Knicks) looked almost exactly the same as his rookie year with the Nets. Kevin Durant is still rail thin. So is Tyson Chandler (especially his legs).
You can't expect these lean guys to hulk out and be something they're not - you hope he's the type of guy that can use his height to his advantage and be one of those guys that can be slippery to get position.
Beautiful outside shot, solid footwork. What will make or break him is his ability to see the floor (basketball IQ). What you need to look for is whether he can make the smart pass and be capable of average 2-3apg from the get-go... and also shoot ~50% from the field. That's what the triangle system needs. If he can't do those things, he's not going to be a good fit.
I'm just worried he's too frail. Seems like a pretty boy afraid to bang down low.
Kevin Garnett was never really a big dude in terms of mass. He was wiry strong and tough but never really gained a lot of weight. I think they list him at 220 even now. As long as KrisP gains enough functional strength he should be fine just based on skills and desire. He may end up more of a PF than C. If you look at him as a 7' PF/SF then it could be fine.
