That's fine but we don't need to get caught up in his quirky personality. It doesn't matter how he expresses himself to the press. Just pay attention to what he's actually looking to do with the franchise. He's trying to build a team that can play the game at a high level and that isn't a bad thing in the least.

Phil's job will judged this offseason, not on failing to replenish the cubbard with the JR trade.
I myself give him two years but this year will be big to get at least one really good piece and a couple other pieces that will contribute in a good way and then next off season he can put it all together with the extra cap space. Of course i'm expecting to come out of this draft with a good young player at 4 or a good trade down that gets us a veteran and a pick or multiple picks. I'm good with either one of picking at 4 or trading down as long as it's the right move.

Shumpert had no value at the time he was traded and the two 2nd round picks in 4 years was a smart move cause they'd be picks in the late 50's/60's for the next 3/4 years as long as they have Lebron in his prime but getting them for 4 years from now Cleveland will be back to being a crap team and the picks will be closer to the top of the 2nd round.....smart move that nobody even saw that way. Except for me anyway. His job of rebuilding this team hasn't started yet so i'm willing to give him two years to do his job.

Jesus! It's a goal that will take place over time he doesn't have to get it all done in one summer! This is the beginning of the process and not the end. If you look at what the Spurs have done they keep working to bring in their type of players.
If you have clear priorities in terms of the type of players that fit your system and culture then you will succeed in building a team full of talent that can play the way you want. Don't tell me it's not possible when i've see this done before. It is doable. You can keep your negative outlook if you wish. It has no impact on the reality that this is what Phil is looking to do with this franchise and he has the ability to get it done.

There's a huge difference in being hesitant and being already convinced that he's gonna do a horrible job which a lot of people on here are doing.

No that means he has two years which would be the season coming and the following to build a winning team. Last year was a throw away year to clean the mess he came into up.......which he did.

Well both..Some speculated he wouldn't opt out and other expressed surprise when he did..
He certainly didn't clean up any mess-- if he had done literally nothing, and made no moves, we'd have more cap room now than after all his moves.

yeah but then you wouldn't have some of the other things: locker room cohesion; development/eval of Gallo, THJr, Early, Ledo, Larkin, Wear, Acy; possible trade for Shved; development of coach-player relationship for Fisher; possible better record.

This is why I say we need to stop buying into the Media narrative that Phil is a Fraud, Cook, only doing it for the money etc. The NY Media loves nothing more than to tear Phil down. Nothing he does will make them back off until he starts to turn this around, but he hasn't been here long enough to do that. Now is his chance to start to rebuild this thing. I could care less what he says at this point.
