I'd have to say I would be excited to have him on this team .. I know melo is win now but we will put pieces together to win now via free agency . This kid has to be the pick just on flexibility alone, he's the most tradable assist if we decide to go that route . Kristap also the most talented option at 4 if ok4, towns, Russell are off the table. 7 footers that have range and athletic ability like kristap only come around so many times .. No more brags comparisons brags came into this league with questions about his work ethic. And obviously that's brags short comings . Kristap is known to be a workaholic and wants to be the best ... I think Phil is going to draft this kid.. Trade thjr for another first also might grab Milwaukees second for Greek freak 2
I am starting to think that we are not taking Porzingis. I'm not sure I see Phil going Euro and then I heard a really interesting point. He sees Bargnani in practice every day. If you saw Bargnani play every day, would you take another Euro who might project to be Bargnani? I think Porzingis is not going to the Knicks.
I'm not sold on him. He's a big guy with a lot of potential but he's hardly going to be able to sniff NBA minutes unless he gains some strength and that alone can take years. To top it off, his instincts seem mediocre at best.
I see what your saying but kristap is not brags ..also unless Russell or ok4 falls into our lap we need to draft for the future.. This kid has more Durant in him then brags .. He's a 2 guard skill set in a big mans body... We also were the only team to bring him in via private workout ... The workout being cut short is a smokescreen .. I think it's kristap at 4

Come on now you heard that interesting point from Jay Williams on Mike and Mike this morning so i wouldn't put to much into what he says. I have absolutely no idea what Phil is gonna do. The only thing i'm for sure that he's gonna do is he's gonna do everything he can to trade down if he gets the right offer which i think he will. I wouldn't be mad at Porzingis at 4 though cause i really don't mind him taking that kind of chance on a kid that has the potential to be as good as he has.
There is too much risk involved in Kristap to take him at 4. I wouldn't mind him in a trade down though. I know that conventional wisdom suggest he'd be gone by the 7th or so pick but I think that his hype is little more than teams trying to better jocky for better players that they really want e.g. Justise Winslow to the Magic; Emmanuel Mudiay to the Kings, etc.

I think he can give us minutes right away and don't buy all this 3/4 years talk. He's around the size of P.Gasol and K.Durant and Dirk and others and they don't seem to be having any problems. I don't think he gives us 38 minutes a night right away but i can see him giving us 20 next year while we're in rebuild mode anyway and then giving us more minutes the following season.

You just said that you did not want others to talk in absolutes so"he only thing i'm for sure that he's gonna do is he's gonna do everything he can to trade down how do you know that?????? Youre talking in absolutes.

Have you seen how he gets pushed around?
We draft for the future and win now via free agency unless Russell falls into our laps ... Kristap could also land us a proven player and another pick ... Drafting kristap gives us flexibility he could also be a Mactch up nightmare if Phil keeps him he will be a 5 in this league kid has one of the purest shooting strokes I've ever seen on a big man ... He is also a high flyer and can d up

Just because he has "two-guard skill" doesn't make him a good prospect. That has been the M.O. of almost every European 4 since Dirk and hardly any of them have had productive careers in the league. This is a different game we play and the defense played in the NBA can often neutralize what European 4's do best and relegate them to being meaningless role players (see Maceji Lampe or Chinese big man Yi Jianlian).

Have you seen how Durant gets pushed around ... Guys like that go to the ft line a lot
I'm talking about defense. Durant does not get pushed around like THAT.

Just because a player has a unique skillset, doesn't make them a "matchup nightmare". At the 4 spot, Tim Thomas was a stretch 4 before stretch 4's were in vogue and yet he was still very much a role player....as was Vladimir Radmanovic.....as was Charlie Villanueva.....as was the litany of other no name's that couldn't even crack their teams' rotations. At the 4 spot, we should be looking for a star and not just a dude with a unique skillset, which is all that Porzingis has proven to be. I'd take him if we traded down and acquired additional assets to offset the risk but that would be the only circumstances I'd want him as a Knick. Seems like there is a "potential guy" every draft that gets hyped in order to serve as a smokescreen to disguise other teams' intent. IMO, Kristap is the guy is this year's draft.

Yep i heard it there. I think its a solid point. If we are assuming Phil is making the pick then I'm not sure Phil goes that route.
I would have no problem with that and I have that feeling too
Also think Phil Jackson is trying to get Frank Kaminski or another mid teir talent somehow
I would love Bobby Portis, especially if he reaches the middle of the 1st round, it would make him a possible realistic target to acquire
Though Frank Kaminski would FIT very well in this system, I feel we NEED TOP TIER TALENTS and Kaminski could be a solid 4th/5th option in the future, just not a TOP 4 pick or franchise talent
He could be like a Robert Horry/Boris Diaw type of role on a very good team, when he finishes development
Think Phil Jackson likes his character and maturity
Problem is we do not have the likes of Shaq/Kobe, Pippen/Jordan/Kukoc/Rodman, Gasol/Bynum/Odom/ARiza, Duncan/Manu/Parker?? and D Robinson??, forgot who he played with, along with Sean Elliot/Mario Ellie??
While he hasn't gotten much attention, Portis could drop a bit in which we could possibly steal him in a realistic trade
While I think Bobby Portis could be an ALL STAR like Jermaine Oneil, would love all of them, along with DMO and Mike Muscula *could be poison pill with less then the MLE type money to start* for the Triangle
If we do somehow end up with Kaminksi later in the draft *don't think he is slipping past 12* though I would love Rasheed Wallace/Horry as a mentor/development coach or if we have similiar talents as a POST PLAYER/SHOOTER
Bobby Portis for Jermaine Oneil to help reach his ceiling/potential *even would sign him one year as player if he wants but prefer him as a development coach, not sure how KG would be as a development coach*
JO is a perfect mentor with similiar skill sets/bodies/physical abilities/skills
Triple T should love this...He should fit right in...
i posted this elsewhere, but no one looked at it... on russillo show yesterday Dan Dakich said Kristaps will flop, and he knows this because he has "soft eyes" ... Dakich said he can tell.
thoughts?

Lampe could barely dunk the basketball, no lie. Look it up. He was a terrible athlete. Porzingis is a much more fluid athlete than most of the euro busts.
